Dip attachments

Will a dip attachment fit my rack?

Only if its maker lists your rack or your exact upright and hole size. REP lists its Drop-In Dip for the PR-4000, PR-5000, Omni and Apollo, says it does not fit the 1000 Series, and does not guarantee it fits other brands' racks. More in Rack dip attachments: mount type, host list and rating

Can I adjust dip width?

Some designs let you change it by where you mount them. Synergee says its dip handles are not width-adjustable, but mounting them inside the rack gives a narrower grip and mounting on the front or outside a wider one. More in Rack dip attachments: mount type, host list and rating

Do I need to bolt the rack down for dips?

Follow the rack maker. REP recommends bolting the rack down or adding its Front Foot Extensions when its drop-in dip is used on the front of the rack. Anchoring steps belong in the rack maker's manual, done by a qualified installer if you are unsure. More in Rack dip attachments: mount type, host list and rating

What does 'body only' mean?

It means the listing sells the frame without the handles. Mutant Metals sells a 'body only' version of its Ultimate Dip Attachment that does not include handles, so check the variant before you order. More in Rack dip attachments: mount type, host list and rating

What is the difference between a drop-in and a J-cup style dip?

A J-cup style dip, like REP's 4000/5000 Dip Station, pins into the holes and is anchored by a pin. REP's Drop-In Dip mounts with a double C-cup into the holes, and REP describes no separate locking pin. More in Rack dip attachments: J-cup style, drop-in and mount-over

Can I adjust dip handle width?

Not on Synergee's handles. Synergee says they are not width-adjustable, but mounting them inside the rack gives a narrower grip and on the front or outside a wider one. More in Rack dip attachments: J-cup style, drop-in and mount-over

What does 'body only' mean?

It is a frame sold without handles. Mutant Metals says its UDA body-only variant does not include handles, so you need to add them before use. More in Rack dip attachments: J-cup style, drop-in and mount-over

Does REP's 1000 Series dip pin into the uprights?

No. REP says it mounts over the rack's safeties, with both safeties on the same side and the knobs tightened on the top one. More in Rack dip attachments: J-cup style, drop-in and mount-over

Will a REP dip attachment fit my Titan rack?

No source we found confirms it. REP lists its Drop-In Dip for the PR-4000, PR-5000, Omni and Apollo and says it does not guarantee fit on other brands. More in Will a dip attachment fit my rack?

Sunny lists the SF-XFA002 only for named Sunny Powerzone cages and does not state upright or hole sizes, so there is no basis for fit on other brands. More in Will a dip attachment fit my rack?

Do I need to bolt my rack down for dips?

REP recommends bolting the rack down or adding Front Foot Extensions when its drop-in dip is used on the front of the rack. For other racks, follow your rack maker's anchoring instruction. More in Will a dip attachment fit my rack?

Does the Titan X Dip Bar fit the T-3 Tall Folding rack?

Only Synergee sells by upright and hole size; the others name their own racks. Rack makers do not guarantee cross-brand fit: REP says it does not guarantee its Drop-In Dip will fit other brands' racks. More in Rack dip attachments with a stated rating and host list

Why is REP's dip not on this list?

REP's Drop-In Dip (810 lb, for the PR-4000, PR-5000, Omni and Apollo) and its 4000/5000 Dip Station (400 lb, pin-anchored) state their fit and ratings but are not in our approved catalog yet. More in Rack dip attachments with a stated rating and host list

Do I need to bolt my rack down?

J-cups and J-hooks

Do J-cups fit any rack with the same upright size?

No. Rogue says its Infinity J-cups fit only 5/8 in Infinity and R-Series units, even though other racks use 2x3 in tubing, and REP says it cannot guarantee its parts fit non-REP racks. Go by the cup maker's named racks or its stated upright and hole size. More in J-cups and J-hooks: upright size, pin size and the maker's rating

Is a J-cup rating per cup or per pair?

It depends on the maker, and some do not say. Synergee rates a pair at 750 lb combined with both cups at equal heights, Bells of Steel uses 'combined' wording, and REP lists a rackable capacity without saying per cup or per pair. Never split a pair rating into a per-cup number. More in J-cups and J-hooks: upright size, pin size and the maker's rating

Do I need J-cups with a locking pin?

Choose cups whose maker states how they lock or are retained, and use that lock as the manual shows. Synergee's manual shows an adjustment knob for both 5/8 in and 1 in holes; Bells of Steel states included magnetic pins only for its Manticore Sandwich J-cups. If a lock cannot be installed on your rack, stop and contact the maker. More in J-cups and J-hooks: upright size, pin size and the maker's rating

What is the difference between J-cups and J-hooks?

Nothing structural: both names describe the hook that holds the bar on the upright. Titan calls its T-3 parts J-hooks, while Rogue, REP and Synergee say J-cups. More in J-cups and J-hooks: upright size, pin size and the maker's rating

Which of these J-cups fits my rack?

The one whose maker lists your rack or your measured upright and hole size. Titan's fit only the T-3, Sunny's only the Powerzone models Sunny names, and Synergee's any rack whose upright and hole class match a Synergee variant. More in J-cups compared: upright, pin size, liner and rating

Is Synergee's 750 lb rating per cup?

No. Synergee rates a pair at 750 lb combined when both cups are set at equal heights. More in J-cups compared: upright, pin size, liner and rating

Why not the REP, Bells of Steel or Rogue J-cups?

They are not in our approved catalog yet. Their makers' fit and rating details are in our J-cup guides. More in J-cups compared: upright, pin size, liner and rating

Can I compare the ratings directly?

No. Per pair at equal heights, combined and unstated scopes are different measures. Choose by fit and lock first, and read each rating in the maker's own words. More in J-cups compared: upright, pin size, liner and rating

Will Titan T-2 J-hooks fit my REP PR-1100?

Neither maker lists that pairing. Garage Gym Experiment reported that Titan T-2 accessories relying on lock-in pins did not fully work on a PR-1100, so treat it as not compatible unless Titan lists your rack. More in J-cups for 2x2 and 2x3 uprights: what the makers list

Which J-cups fit a 2x3 rack with 11/16 in holes?

Start with the rack maker's own cups. For the Titan T-3, which lists 11/16 in holes, Titan states a 5/8 in pin for its T-3 J-hooks. A third-party cup must list your upright and hole size. More in J-cups for 2x2 and 2x3 uprights: what the makers list

Are 1,000 lb J-cups rated per cup?

Usually the maker does not say. REP lists 1,000 lb rackable capacity for its Round Sandwich J-cups without a per-cup or per-pair scope, and Bells of Steel says 1,000 lb combined. Quote the maker's wording and do not split it. More in J-cups for 3x3 uprights: 5/8 in and 1 in versions

Will 75 mm J-cups fit a 3x3 rack?

Not on the label alone. 3x3 in works out to 76.2 mm, 1.2 mm per side larger than 75 mm. Only the attachment maker's stated size or host list can answer it. More in J-cups for 3x3 uprights: 5/8 in and 1 in versions

Will third-party J-cups void my rack warranty?

They can. REP says it does not guarantee compatibility with other companies' products and that warranties can be voided in those cases. Ask your rack maker before you rely on its warranty with another brand's part. More in Rack-brand vs third-party attachments

Are rack-brand attachments safer?

We found no comparative data either way. Compare the documented fields instead: upright, hole and pin size, host list, rating and its scope, lock and warranty. More in Rack-brand vs third-party attachments

Which brands publish a cross-fit statement?

Bells of Steel says the Hydra version of its standard J-cups fits non-Bells of Steel racks with true 3 x 3 in uprights and 5/8 in holes. Synergee sells by upright and hole size rather than by rack name. More in Rack-brand vs third-party attachments

Does Synergee's lifetime warranty cover its J-cups?

Synergee's US warranty page gives frames and structural welds a lifetime warranty for the original purchaser. It does not name J-cups or other attachments specifically. More in Rack-brand vs third-party attachments

Are sandwich J-cups worth it?

They wrap the upright from both sides instead of hooking on one face. Makers describe the design, but we found no measured comparison of stability or bar protection between styles, so choose by fit, rating and the maker's stated lock. More in Standard vs sandwich vs roller J-cups

Do roller J-cups have a load rating?

Not on the Rogue Ghost Roller 2.0 pages we read: Rogue lists sizes, materials and pin versions but no load rating. Do not assume one. More in Standard vs sandwich vs roller J-cups

Landmine attachments

Do landmine attachments have weight limits?

Some makers publish one and some do not. Synergee rates its landmine to support up to 500 lb, while Rogue's Monster Landmine 2.0 page and REP's Adroit page list no load rating. We only pick landmines whose maker states a rating and a lock. More in Rack landmine attachments: mount, sleeve and lock

Will a landmine fit a 1 in bar?

Measuring and buying

How do I know an attachment fits my rack?

When the attachment maker names your rack, or states your exact upright size, hole size and spacing. REP, for example, says it cannot guarantee its parts fit non-REP racks because of machining differences, so a matching tube size alone is not proof. More in Before you buy: measure your rack, read the rating, check the seller

Is 3x3 the same as 75 mm?

No. A 3x3 in upright works out to 76.2 x 76.2 mm, which is 1.2 mm larger per side than a 75 x 75 mm tube. That is a calculation from the exact inch, not a fit tolerance. More in Before you buy: measure your rack, read the rating, check the seller

Are Amazon rack attachments genuine?

Check who sells and ships each listing. US Customs and Border Protection says about 87% of counterfeit seizures occur in small packages and advises shopping from authenticated online sources; a brand's own page linking a store is the clearest sign. More in Before you buy: measure your rack, read the rating, check the seller

Will a third-party attachment void my warranty?

It can, depending on the rack maker. REP says it does not guarantee compatibility with other companies' products and that warranties can be voided in those cases. Read your rack maker's warranty before mixing brands. More in Before you buy: measure your rack, read the rating, check the seller

Bells of Steel says the Hydra version of its standard J-cups fits non-Bells of Steel racks with true 3 x 3 in uprights and 5/8 in holes. Both conditions apply; measure before relying on it. More in 2x2 vs 50 mm, 3x3 vs 75 mm and 60 mm rack tubing

Can I standardize attachments across different rack brands?

Rarely. REP says it cannot guarantee compatibility with non-REP items, and an independent reviewer reported that Titan T-2 lock-in pins could not be used as intended on a REP PR-1100. Buy per rack, by each maker's host list. More in Attachments for mixed racks: a studio inventory by rack system

How do I keep track of which J-cups fit which rack?

Do Bells of Steel attachments work across its racks?

Bells of Steel says Hydra attachments fit Manticore racks through the keyholes, though they may lift slightly when pushed upward, and calls Manticore parts on a Manticore rack the most stable fit. That covers Bells of Steel racks only. More in Attachments for mixed racks: a studio inventory by rack system

Do attachments for one Titan rack fit an older rack of the same series?

Not always. Titan says its T-2 Adjustable Monolift Attachments do not fit T-2 racks made before October 2020. More in Attachments for mixed racks: a studio inventory by rack system

Do I need to bolt my rack down to use a dip attachment?

Follow your rack maker. REP recommends bolting down or adding Front Foot Extensions when its drop-in dip is used on the front of the rack. More in Bolt-down, flat-foot and folding racks: what the maker says before you add attachments

Can I use spotter arms on a flat-foot rack?

Only if the rack's maker allows it. Rogue says Safety Spotter Arms and band pegs should not be used with its RML-390F Flat Foot Monster Lite rack, even though that rack needs no bolting. More in Bolt-down, flat-foot and folding racks: what the maker says before you add attachments

Are rack attachments on AliExpress genuine?

We could not confirm an official AliExpress store for any rack brand we cover, so treat AliExpress listings of brand-name rack parts with caution. US Customs and Border Protection says most counterfeit seizures happen in small packages and advises buying from authenticated sources. More in Buying rack attachments on Amazon or AliExpress: what to check first

How do I return a heavy steel attachment?

Read the return terms before you order. Amazon's US policy allows most returns within 30 days of delivery, with eligibility on each product page, and third-party sellers handle their own returns. AliExpress's 2022 Free Return terms covered only labeled items, gave 15 days and required confirmation for orders over 30 kg or oversized boxes. More in Buying rack attachments on Amazon or AliExpress: what to check first

Will I pay duty in Canada?

It depends on value, carrier and the goods. The CBSA says some courier-shipped goods worth not more than CAD 20, 40 or 150 are exempt from duties and/or taxes, with conditions, and that courier and broker fees are separate. By mail, goods worth CAN$20 or less are not subject to GST. More in Buying rack attachments on Amazon or AliExpress: what to check first

How do I know the seller is the brand?

Start from the brand's own website and follow its store links, then check 'Ships from / Sold by' on the listing. Is my rack 2x3 in or 50x75 mm?

Measure it and compare with the maker's published size. 2 in works out to 50.8 mm and 3 in to 76.2 mm, so a nominal 2x3 in tube is not the same size as a 50x75 mm tube. More in How to measure your rack's uprights, holes and spacing

How do I measure hole spacing accurately?

Measure from the center of one hole to the center of a hole several holes away, then divide by the number of gaps. Do it in more than one zone, because spacing can change along the upright; Titan says some T-2 sections measure 1 in although the holes are 2 in on center. More in How to measure your rack's uprights, holes and spacing

Does paint or powder coat change the size?

It can add a little, but no maker we found publishes coated sizes. Record what you measure and what the maker publishes, and let the attachment maker decide whether your rack is on its host list. More in How to measure your rack's uprights, holes and spacing

Is 16 mm the same as 5/8 in?

No. 5/8 in works out to 15.875 mm. Treat the two as different numbers even when a maker prints them side by side. More in How to measure your rack's uprights, holes and spacing

How do I find out which rack I have?

Check the order confirmation or invoice first, then any label on the frame, then the assembly manual. Write down the maker, the full model name and the purchase month and year. More in Identify your rack before buying any attachment

Why does a part made for my brand not fit my rack?

Lines and revisions within one brand differ. Titan says its T-2 monolift does not fit T-2 racks made before October 2020, and Rogue says band pegs and Safety Spotter Arms should not be used on the RML-390F. More in Identify your rack before buying any attachment

Record both and ask the maker which applies to your rack. Titan gives the T-2 hole as 26 mm in one place and 1 in in another, and lists the T-2 as 12-gauge in support answers and 14-gauge on its comparison page. More in Identify your rack before buying any attachment

My rack is discontinued. Where do I start?

Find the model name and year, then measure the upright, hole diameter and hole spacing yourself and ask the attachment maker whether those numbers are on its host list. Do not rely on old secondhand charts. More in Identify your rack before buying any attachment

Does buying on Amazon void a Titan warranty?

It does not mention Amazon or other retailers, so check with Titan before relying on the warranty for a marketplace purchase. More in Rack attachment warranties and returns by maker

Are rack pins covered by the lifetime warranty?

Usually not for life. REP gives pop-pins one year and Bells of Steel gives pins 90 days, while both give lifetime coverage to frames and structural welds. Rogue's warranty page has no separate row for pins. More in Rack attachment warranties and returns by maker

Does REP's warranty cover Canada?

What is Westside hole spacing?

Tighter spacing through the bench and clean-pull zone with wider spacing above and below. Rogue's SML-2, for example, uses 1 in spacing in that zone and 2 in above and below. More in Westside vs 2-inch vs metric hole spacing

Does hole spacing matter for J-cups?

For a J-cup that hangs on a single pin, spacing only changes how finely you can set the height. It matters for fit when the attachment has a second pin or lock tab that must land in another hole. More in Westside vs 2-inch vs metric hole spacing

Is 50 mm spacing the same as 2 in?

No. 2 in works out to 50.8 mm, so a part built for one pitch can miss the other over a long span. Two Rep Cave retracted a report that Titan had moved to 2 in on all racks, saying they still had 50 mm spacing at the time. More in Westside vs 2-inch vs metric hole spacing

Why does my attachment's second pin miss the hole?

The attachment was built for a different pitch than your rack's. Stop and ask the attachment maker; never drill, file or leave the pin out. More in Westside vs 2-inch vs metric hole spacing

My rack is not in the list. What now?

Measure the upright size, hole diameter and hole spacing yourself, then buy only attachments whose maker states those exact numbers. The measuring guide shows how; the upright size finder lists makers' sizes for each tube. More in Rack attachment fit finder

Why does a field say 'Not confirmed'?

Because no maker page, manual or support answer we read states it. We leave it blank rather than guess or copy a figure from a reseller. More in Rack attachment fit finder

Why are two different numbers shown for one rack?

Because the maker publishes both. Titan's T-2 support answers say 12-gauge steel, while its rack comparison page says 14-gauge; we show the conflict instead of picking one. More in Rack attachment fit finder

Will a 75 mm attachment fit my 3x3 rack?

Do not assume so. A 3x3 in upright works out to 76.2 mm, 1.2 mm larger per side than 75 mm. Fit depends on the attachment maker's list, not on a converted number. More in Upright size finder

Is a 2.3 in rack the same as a 2.4 in rack?

Both labels are used for 60 mm tubing: Bells of Steel labels its 60 mm tubing 2.3 in and Force USA labels MyRack 2.4 in. A shared metric size does not establish cross-brand fit. More in Upright size finder

My measurement is between two sizes. What does that mean?

Paint and coatings add thickness, and no maker we read publishes tolerances. Measure again, then compare with your rack maker's stated size; if it still does not match, ask the maker. More in Upright size finder

The Bells of Steel page states no load capacity for them, so we do not treat them as rated storage. More in Rack plate storage: horn length, sleeve size and per-peg ratings

Is a per-pair rating the same as a per-peg rating?

No. Synergee gives both: 250 lb per peg and 500 lb per pair. REP's 1000 Series Weight Storage is rated up to 2,000 lb for the whole unit, with no per-spot rating. More in Rack plate storage with a stated per-peg rating

Why are Bells of Steel's change plate pegs not on this list?

They state ratings, 330 lb per sleeve for the TITAN Series pair and 250 lb per holder for the T-2, but they are not in our approved catalog yet. More in Rack plate storage with a stated per-peg rating

Pull-up and multi-grip bars

Will a multi-grip bar fit my rack?

Only if its maker names your rack line and the crossmember it attaches to. REP lists its Crossmember Multi-Grip Pull-Up Bar for the 5000 Series and says it cannot guarantee compatibility with non-REP items. More in Rack pull-up and multi-grip bars: crossmember, bracket and rating

What is the rating of a rack pull-up bar?

Whatever its maker publishes, in the maker's wording. REP lists 1,000 lb for its 5000 Series Crossmember Multi-Grip Pull-Up Bar without saying what the figure covers; Titan states a weight capacity on each of its pull-up bar pages. More in Rack pull-up and multi-grip bars: crossmember, bracket and rating

Does my rack need side holes for a pull-up bar?

It depends on how the bar mounts, so read the bar maker's instructions. Side holes do decide some fits: Titan says its T-2 rack has no side holes, which is why its lat tower is not compatible with it. More in Rack pull-up and multi-grip bars: crossmember, bracket and rating

Will a multi-grip pull-up bar fit my rack?

Only if its maker lists your rack. REP's 5000 Series Crossmember Multi-Grip pairs with named REP crossmembers and connectors, and REP does not guarantee fit with non-REP items. More in Rack pull-up bars: crossmember fit, brackets and rating

What rating does a rack pull-up bar have?

Whatever its maker states, in its words. REP lists 1,000 lb for its 5000 Series Crossmember Multi-Grip without saying what the figure covers. More in Rack pull-up bars: crossmember fit, brackets and rating

Can I add a pull-up bar to a rack without one?

Only with a bar or crossmember your rack's maker lists for that rack. Never drill or add unlisted brackets; REP says warranties can be voided when other companies' products are used. More in Rack pull-up bars: crossmember fit, brackets and rating

Why won't some Titan accessories fit a T-2?

Titan says the T-2 has no side holes, which is why its lat tower and pivoting boxing reflex trainer are not compatible with it. More in Rack pull-up bars: crossmember fit, brackets and rating

Do any of these fit a non-Titan rack?

Titan lists them only for its own rack lines, and Sunny only for named Powerzone cages. Rack makers do not promise cross-brand fit; REP, for example, says it cannot guarantee compatibility between REP and non-REP items. More in Rack pull-up bars with a stated host and rating

Why is REP's multi-grip bar not on this list?

REP lists a 1,000 lb capacity and a 1.25 in bar for its 5000 Series Crossmember Multi-Grip Pull-Up Bar, but it is not in our approved catalog yet. More in Rack pull-up bars with a stated host and rating

Will these fit a Titan T-2?

None of them is listed for the T-2. Titan also says the T-2 has no side holes, which rules out some of its attachments. More in Rack pull-up bars with a stated host and rating

Rack pins, band pegs and small hardware

What size pins does my rack use?

The size your rack maker lists, which is often a class rather than a measured hole. Rogue lists 1 in hardware on the RM-6 Monster Rack and 5/8 in holes on the SML-2; REP lists 5/8 in hardware on the PR-4000 and 1 in on the PR-5000. Check your rack's page in the fit finder. More in Rack pins, band pegs and hardware: hole, pin and bolt sizes

Are magnetic pins safe?

We can only report what makers say. Oak Club says its MagPins are for experienced lifters only, tells users to check installation before each lift and to always use a failsafe method of attachment securement, and publishes no structural rating. More in Rack pins, band pegs and hardware: hole, pin and bolt sizes

Can I use band pegs on any rack?

No. Rogue states that band pegs should not be used with its RML-390F Flat Foot Monster Lite rack. Our sources publish no band-peg dimensions or ratings, so use only pegs your rack maker lists for your rack. More in Rack pins, band pegs and hardware: hole, pin and bolt sizes

What bolts does a Rogue strap system use?

Rogue's Monster Strap Safety System manual lists four strap hangers, two straps, four 5/8 x 4.75 in hex bolts and four 5/8 in nylock nuts. More in Rack pins, band pegs and hardware: hole, pin and bolt sizes

Can I use 5/8 in J-cups on a 1 in rack?

Only if the J-cup maker lists your rack or sells a converter for it. Rogue, for example, sells its Ghost Roller J-Cups 2.0 in separate 1 in and 5/8 in versions for Monster and Monster Lite units. More in 5/8 in vs 1 in rack hardware

What is a keyhole?

A hole that joins a larger opening to a smaller one. Bells of Steel says Manticore side holes combine a 1 in opening with a 5/8 in opening so 5/8 in Hydra attachments can pin in. More in 5/8 in vs 1 in rack hardware

Do converters work on any rack?

No. A converter adapts a pin to a hole class; it does not make an attachment fit a different upright or pitch. Synergee sells some J-cup variants without the converter, so confirm it is in the variant you choose. More in 5/8 in vs 1 in rack hardware

Is 5/8 in hardware the same as 16 mm?

No. 5/8 in works out to 15.875 mm. The two are close labels, not the same size. More in 5/8 in vs 1 in rack hardware

My J-cup's lock pin misses the hole. Is it safe to use?

Treat it as not installed. Take it off the rack and contact the attachment maker with your rack model, year and hole spacing. More in When an attachment's locking pin does not line up

Can I drill a new hole?

No. Do not drill, file, bend or ream the rack or the attachment, and do not leave the pin out. REP says products modified outside REP lose warranty coverage, and the lock exists for a reason. More in When an attachment's locking pin does not line up

Why do Titan parts not lock on my REP rack?

Titan lists T-2 holes at 2 in on center and REP lists the PR-1100 at 3 in, so a part built for one pitch can miss on the other. Garage Gym Experiment reported that T-2 accessories relying on lock-in pins did not fully work on a PR-1100. More in When an attachment's locking pin does not line up

Does the rack maker guarantee other brands' parts?

REP says it does not guarantee compatibility with other companies' products and that warranties can be voided in those cases. More in When an attachment's locking pin does not line up

Do J-cups need a locking pin?

Follow the maker. Some J-cups state a lock, such as the mag pins Bells of Steel includes with its Manticore Sandwich J-cups or the adjustment knob in Synergee's manual; others state none. If the maker shows a lock, use it every time. More in Pins, hitch pins, clevis pins, knobs and magnets: how attachments lock

Are magnetic pins safe?

We cannot rate them. Oak Club says its MagPins are for experienced lifters only and tells users to check installation before each lift and always use a failsafe method of attachment securement. More in Pins, hitch pins, clevis pins, knobs and magnets: how attachments lock

What is a clevis pin?

A pin with a head on one end and a cross-hole or clip on the other, held in place by a spring clip or ring. REP locks its Flip-Down Safeties with a clevis quick-release pin. More in Pins, hitch pins, clevis pins, knobs and magnets: how attachments lock

What should I check before each set?

That every pin, knob or clip the maker shows is in place and fully seated. Rogue's strap manual says to make sure each hanger's pin notch is fully seated and that all rigging must be inspected before each use. More in Pins, hitch pins, clevis pins, knobs and magnets: how attachments lock

Is a 5/8 in rack the same as a 16 mm rack?

No. 5/8 in works out to 15.875 mm, slightly less than 16 mm. Some makers print 16 mm beside 5/8 in as a rounded label; treat them as different numbers. More in Hole diameter vs pin diameter: two different numbers

My rack says 11/16 in holes. Which pin size do I need?

Use the pin size the attachment maker states for your rack. Titan lists 11/16 in holes on the T-3 and a 5/8 in pin for its T-3 J-hooks, so the hole and the pin are different numbers on the same system. More in Hole diameter vs pin diameter: two different numbers

Can a smaller pin go in a bigger hole?

Only if the attachment maker lists your rack or hole size as a host. Never improvise with a smaller pin, a sleeve or a shim of your own. More in Hole diameter vs pin diameter: two different numbers

What does Titan's T-2 hole measure?

Titan gives it as 26 mm in its spec table and as 1 in holes in its description. Record both and ask Titan which applies to your rack. More in Hole diameter vs pin diameter: two different numbers

What size pin does my rack take?

Use the pin size your rack maker states for its own attachments, not the hole size. Titan, for example, lists 11/16 in holes on the T-3 but a 5/8 in pin for its T-3 J-hooks. More in Replacement and magnetic rack pins

Are magnetic pins a good replacement for stock pins?

Only where the pin maker allows it. Oak Club says its MagPins are for experienced lifters only and tells users to check installation before each lift and always use a failsafe method of attachment securement. More in Replacement and magnetic rack pins

How long should a rack pin be?

Long enough to pass fully through the attachment and the upright as the maker designed. Compare the pin maker's usable shaft length with the pin it replaces; Oak Club lists 4-1/2 in of usable shaft on the MagPin 3. More in Replacement and magnetic rack pins

Are pins covered by the rack warranty?

Often for less time than the frame. REP gives pop-pins one year, and Bells of Steel gives pins 90 days, while both give frames and structural welds lifetime coverage. More in Replacement and magnetic rack pins

Is a 16 mm pin the same as a 5/8 in pin?

No. A 5/8 in pin is 15.875 mm, slightly less than the 16 mm some makers print beside it. Treat them as different sizes and buy the pin your rack maker specifies. More in Rack pins with the diameter and shaft length stated

Are magnetic pins enough on their own?

Follow the pin maker. Oak Club says its MagPins are for experienced lifters only, and tells users to check installation before each lift and always use a failsafe method of attachment securement. More in Rack pins with the diameter and shaft length stated

Are rack pins covered by the lifetime warranty?

Not at Bells of Steel: its warranty gives frames and structural welds a limited lifetime but pins 90 days. More in Rack pins with the diameter and shaft length stated

Safeties

Which safeties fit my rack?

Only the ones the safety maker or the rack maker lists for your rack and its depth. Rogue says its Monster spotter arms and strap system fit only Monster Series racks, and Rogue says Safety Spotter Arms should not be used on its RML-390F Flat Foot rack at all. More in Rack safeties: straps, pin-pipe, flip-down and spotter arms

Are straps rated higher than pin-pipe?

Not as a type: compare the numbers each maker gives for the exact product, in its own wording. Titan lists 650 lb rackable for its T-3/X-3 pin and pipe set and 800 lb combined dynamic drop capacity for its T-3 strap spotter arms. Rogue's '10,000 lb' strap figure describes the strap material, not the system. More in Rack safeties: straps, pin-pipe, flip-down and spotter arms

What length safety straps do I need?

Measure your rack's inside depth and pick the option the strap maker lists for it. Synergee sells 23, 29 and 35 in inside-depth options, with the 2x2 version in 23 in only. More in Rack safeties: straps, pin-pipe, flip-down and spotter arms

Were REP strap safeties recalled?

In February 2021 the CPSC announced recall 21-721 of about 1,940 REP PR-4000 and PR-5000 strap safety brackets, because poorly welded brackets could detach when weight dropped onto the straps. The recall covered those brackets only, not later REP products. More in Rack safeties: straps, pin-pipe, flip-down and spotter arms

Is a 1,000 lb J-cup rating per cup or per pair?

Only the maker's wording can say. REP lists 1,000 lb rackable for its Round Sandwich J-Cups without a per-cup or per-pair scope, while Bells of Steel calls its 1,000 lb figure 'combined'. If the scope is not stated, treat it as unknown and ask the maker. More in Rack attachment load ratings: pair, peg, combined, drop and rackable

What is dynamic vs static capacity?

A static figure is for a resting load; a dynamic or drop figure is for a load that lands. For the same change in momentum, a shorter stop means a larger average force, which is why the numbers differ. No source gives a conversion between them. More in Rack attachment load ratings: pair, peg, combined, drop and rackable

Do rack attachments have to meet a safety standard?

ASTM F2276, F3105 and F3104 and ISO 20957-4 cover fitness equipment, external weight storage and free-standing barbell racks. No attachment in the sources we read states that it meets one, and ISO 20957-2 covers stacked-weight machines, not racks. More in Rack attachment load ratings: pair, peg, combined, drop and rackable

Can I add the ratings of two attachments together?

No. Each rating covers only its own part on its listed host, so J-cups and safeties on the same rack never make a combined system rating. More in Rack attachment load ratings: pair, peg, combined, drop and rackable

Are REP strap safeties recalled?

CPSC recall 21-721 of February 11, 2021 covered about 1,940 REP PR-4000 and PR-5000 strap safety brackets (SKUs PRA-4120 and PRA-5122) sold April to December 2020. It does not cover other REP products or revisions; check the notice against your SKU. More in Rack attachment recalls and pre-use inspection

How do I check if my rack attachment is recalled?

Search the CPSC and SaferProducts.gov by brand, model and date, check Health Canada if you are in Canada, and ask the maker with your SKU. The CPSC does not guarantee the accuracy of SaferProducts.gov reports. More in Rack attachment recalls and pre-use inspection

What should I inspect before lifting?

Follow the maker's manual. Rogue's strap manuals say each hanger's pin notch must be fully seated and all rigging inspected before each use; Oak Club says to check pin installation before each lift. More in Rack attachment recalls and pre-use inspection

Where do I report a failure?

In the US, on SaferProducts.gov; in Canada, through Health Canada's online consumer incident reporting form. Tell the maker as well. More in Rack attachment recalls and pre-use inspection

Were Rogue J-cups recalled?

In April 2011 the CPSC announced a recall of about 5,500 Rogue barbell brackets (J-cups) sold March 2009 to December 2010 for SPX, R-3, R-4 and Infinity units. It is historical and does not apply to current products. More in Rack attachment recalls and pre-use inspection

Do straps fit a 2x2 rack?

Some do, if the maker lists 2x2. Synergee offers a 2x2 version in the 23 in inside depth only. More in Safety straps: rack depth, hangers and the maker's rating

How often should I inspect straps?

Will Monster arms fit a Monster Lite rack?

Rogue says its Monster Safety Spotter Arms 2.0 are compatible only with Monster Series units, and Monster Lite is not listed. Rogue also says Safety Spotter Arms should not be used with the RML-390F. More in Spotter arms for squat stands and racks

What does 'dynamic drop capacity' mean?

It is Titan's term for its T-3 strap spotter arms: '800 lb combined dynamic drop capacity'. Titan does not define it on the page and also lists 800 lb per pair as rackable capacity without explaining the two, so quote it as written. More in Spotter arms for squat stands and racks

Why does my spotter arm need two pins?

Because its maker designed it to lock that way. Titan's T-3 strap arms use two hitch pins per arm, and its T-2 arms have 200 mm between pin centers, so both pins must line up with holes. If one cannot go in, do not use the arm. More in Spotter arms for squat stands and racks

Are straps better than pin and pipe safeties?

No source we found compares them by catching performance. Choose the type your rack's maker or the safety's maker lists for your rack, and compare ratings only in each maker's wording. REP's 'quieter than pin-pipe' line is its own description, not a measurement. More in Straps vs pin-pipe vs flip-down safeties vs spotter arms

What are flip-down safeties?

Steel channels that pin to the uprights and swing down into place. REP builds its version from 11-gauge steel and locks it with a clevis quick-release pin. More in Straps vs pin-pipe vs flip-down safeties vs spotter arms

Do I need safeties inside or outside the rack?

Inside safeties (straps, pin and pipe, flip-down) span the bay and must match the rack's inside depth. Spotter arms mount outside on one upright. Use what the maker lists for your rack; a squat stand has no bay, so it can only take arms its maker lists. More in Straps vs pin-pipe vs flip-down safeties vs spotter arms

Why is there a gap between my flip-down safety and the upright?

For Titan's T-3 24 in flip-down safety, Titan says the gap is intentional because the bar could not be installed or flipped down without it. That answer covers that model only; for any other safety, ask its maker. More in Straps vs pin-pipe vs flip-down safeties vs spotter arms

Is a 10,000 lb strap rating the rating of the safety?

No. Rogue's 10,000 lb wording describes the nylon strap, not the brackets, pins or the system. More in Straps vs pin-pipe vs flip-down safeties vs spotter arms

What length straps do I need?
