Short answer

Find out what your rack's top or front crossmember is, then choose a pull-up or multi-grip bar whose maker names that rack line and crossmember, gives the bracket hole size and states a rating. Pull-up bars are sold per rack line, not per tube size: REP lists its Crossmember Multi-Grip Pull-Up Bar for its 5000 Series.[1]

What these bars attach to

A rack pull-up bar either replaces one of the rack's top crossmembers, bolts onto one, or mounts between the uprights. A multi-grip bar adds several handle positions. Because the bar spans the rack, three things decide fit: the rack's depth or width, the crossmember the maker names, and the hole size of the bracket that holds it. None of these follows from the upright size alone.

The pull-up bar guide goes deeper on each check.

The decisions, in order

1. What your rack's top or front crossmember is. Identify your rack line and its exact version first; the identify-your-rack guide shows how. REP says its 5000 Series multi-grip bar pairs with its 72 in and 82 in connectors, logo-plate and regular crossmembers, and installs with nuts built into the handles.[1]

2. The bar maker names your rack. REP states it cannot guarantee compatibility between REP items and non-REP items because of manufacturing and machining differences.[1] REP's warranty adds that warranties can be voided when its products are used with other companies' products.[2] Titan's pull-up bars list T-3, X-3 and, for some, TITAN Series racks.

3. Bracket hole size. Titan gives an 11/16 in hole size for the mounting bracket of its SPHPUBAR_T3X3TS pull-up bar,[3] which matches the 11/16 in holes Titan lists on T-3 racks.[4] A bracket sized for one hole class is not a fit for another; hole diameter vs pin diameter explains the difference.

4. Rating and scope. REP lists a 1,000 lb capacity and a 1.25 in bar diameter for its 5000 Series Crossmember Multi-Grip Pull-Up Bar, read on its EU storefront; REP does not say what the 1,000 lb covers.[1] Quote the figure the way the maker writes it, and never treat it as a per-handle number.

Check the exact rack, not the family name

Makers' own pages can disagree about one rack. Titan's T-2 support answers say T-2 racks are 12-gauge steel, while Titan's rack comparison page lists the T-2 as 14-gauge.[5] Titan also says the T-2 has no side holes, which is why its lat tower and a pivoting boxing reflex trainer do not fit it.[5] When a page and a support answer conflict, ask the maker before buying a bar that spans the rack.

How to choose

Write down your rack line, its depth and the crossmember at the top front, then match them to a maker's list. Three approved bars name their racks. Titan's Adjustable Handle Pull Up Bar is listed for T-3, X-3 and TITAN Series racks and mounts inside the rack; Titan states a 440 lb weight capacity. Titan's Dual Pull-Up Stabilizer Bar replaces the top front or back crossmember on T-3 and X-3 racks; Titan states 1,200 lb. Sunny's SF-XFA001 is for named Powerzone cages, with a 330 lb maximum user weight.

What rating does a rack pull-up bar have?

Can I add a pull-up bar to a rack without one?

Why won't some Titan accessories fit a T-2?

Do any of these fit a non-Titan rack?

None of them is listed for the T-2. Titan also says the T-2 has no side holes, which rules out some of its attachments. More in Rack pull-up bars with a stated host and rating

Questions

Will a multi-grip bar fit my rack?

Only if its maker names your rack line and the crossmember it attaches to. REP lists its Crossmember Multi-Grip Pull-Up Bar for the 5000 Series and says it cannot guarantee compatibility with non-REP items.[1]

What is the rating of a rack pull-up bar?

Whatever its maker publishes, in the maker's wording. REP lists 1,000 lb for its 5000 Series Crossmember Multi-Grip Pull-Up Bar without saying what the figure covers; Titan states a weight capacity on each of its pull-up bar pages.[1]

Does my rack need side holes for a pull-up bar?

It depends on how the bar mounts, so read the bar maker's instructions. Side holes do decide some fits: Titan says its T-2 rack has no side holes, which is why its lat tower is not compatible with it.[5]
