Short answer
Choose a holder whose maker names both your machine's Z axis and the body diameter of your router or spindle: 65 mm for a Makita RT0701C-class router, 69 or 71 mm (by the maker's label) for a DeWalt DWP611, 80 mm for the larger spindles. A mount sized for the body but made for another Z axis will not bolt on, and no source we read sells a universal one.

What a mount does and why the size matters
A mount (also called a holder or Z clamp) is the block on the front of the Z axis that clamps the router or spindle. Two numbers decide fit. The bore must match the body diameter of your router or spindle. The back of the mount must match the bolt pattern of your Z axis, and that pattern changes between machines and between Z-axis generations.
Makers use five common bore labels: 52, 65, 69, 71 and 80 mm. Sienci offers its LongMill mount in 52, 65, 71 and 80 mm.[1] Genmitsu lists 42 and 52 mm mounts for the 4040-PRO and says its Z carriage takes 65 or 69 mm motors with an extra mount.[2] FoxAlien ships the Masuter Pro with 52 and 65 mm clamps and sells a 69 mm clamp separately.[3]
The decisions, in order
1. Your machine and Z version. Mounts are made for one Z axis. Carbide 3D says its 80 mm Spindle Mount for the Shapeoko 5 Pro will not fit other Shapeoko machines.[4] Onefinity's 80 mm mount for the original Z-16 slider is not compatible with Elite series machines,[5] and its Gen 2 mount fits only Gen 2 Elite machines with the Z-20 slider.[6] Start with how to identify your machine and Z axis or the CNC machine part finder.
2. The body diameter of your router or spindle. Check the maker's stated diameter, then measure the body where the mount clamps. Labels differ between makers for the same router: FoxAlien calls its DeWalt DWP611 clamp 69 mm, while Sienci lists its 71 mm mount for the DWP611 and Bosch Colt.[1] Carbide 3D sells a 69 mm Sweepy 2.0 for the DeWalt trim router.[7] We show both labels and do not resolve them.
3. A holder whose maker names both. Genmitsu lists its 65/69 mm holder (101-63-ZC65/ZC69) for the 4040-PRO, 4040-PRO MAX, 4040 Reno, 3020-PRO Ultra and 3030-PROVer MAX.[8] Its 4030 V2 holder comes in 69 and 65 mm for the PROVerXL 4030 V2.[9] FoxAlien's Z clamp comes in 65 mm (for routers like the Makita RT0701C) and 69 mm (for routers like the DWP611),[10] listed for the Masuter Pro, Masuter 3, 4040-XE, XE-PRO, WM3020, Vasto series and CL-4x4, and not compatible with the XE-Ultra.[10]
4. A ring or plate only where the maker documents it. PwnCNC's mount comes with a 65 or 80 mm bore and the same outside size,[11] but machines other than its Dominator need a separately sold machine-specific adapter plate.[11] PwnCNC sells reducing shims from 69 to 65, 80 to 65, 86 to 80, 89 to 80 and 108 to 80 mm,[12] designed primarily around its own mounts.[12] See adapter rings, shims and plates.
5. The dust boot for the new size. A new bore usually means a new boot collar. Sienci says its 71 and 80 mm LongMill mounts will not work with the MK2 dust shoe.[1] See the dust boots hub.
How to choose
Find your machine in the maker's list first, then pick the bore for your body. Four approved holders state both.

Common questions
Which mount size do I need for a Makita RT0701C?
65 mm. FoxAlien sells its 65 mm Z clamp for routers like the RT0701C, and Sienci's standard 65 mm LongMill mount is the one it tested with the RT0700/RT0701. More in 65 vs 69 vs 71 vs 80 mm mounts: which bodies each one holds
Can a 65 mm mount hold an 80 mm spindle?
No. A bore cannot grip a larger body. Only the other direction is possible, a smaller body in a larger bore, and only with a reducing ring its maker makes for that pair. More in 65 vs 69 vs 71 vs 80 mm mounts: which bodies each one holds
Why do two makers give different sizes for the same router?
FoxAlien calls its DeWalt DWP611 clamp 69 mm, while Sienci lists its DWP611 mount as 71 mm. Neither source explains the difference, so buy the holder whose maker names your router. More in 65 vs 69 vs 71 vs 80 mm mounts: which bodies each one holds
Does the mount size tell me the collet system?
Not by itself, but makers often pair them. PwnCNC pairs its 65 mm mount with ER11 motors and its 80 mm mount with ER20 motors. Check the spindle's own collet listing. More in 65 vs 69 vs 71 vs 80 mm mounts: which bodies each one holds
Can I put an 80 mm spindle on a Shapeoko 4?
Not with Carbide 3D's parts. Its 80 mm kit lists the Shapeoko 5 Pro as the only supported machine, and its 80 mm mount will not fit other Shapeokos. More in 80 mm spindle mount upgrades by machine and Z version
Which Onefinity 80 mm mount fits my Z?
SKU 1z1680mmspindlemount fits the original Z-16 slider; SKU z2080mmmountGen2 fits Gen 2 Elite machines with the Z-20. Each excludes the other's machines and wall-mounted machines. More in 80 mm spindle mount upgrades by machine and Z version
Does the LongMill dust shoe work with an 80 mm mount?
No. Sienci states its 71 mm and 80 mm LongMill mounts will not work with the MK2 dust shoe. More in 80 mm spindle mount upgrades by machine and Z version
Does a dust boot for my 65 mm router fit an 80 mm spindle?
No boot maker in our sources says so. Boots are sold per diameter; Onefinity's Suckit SM, for example, fits 80 mm spindles only. More in 80 mm spindle mount upgrades by machine and Z version
Questions
What size mount does a Makita RT0701C need?
A 65 mm one. FoxAlien sells its 65 mm Z clamp for routers like the RT0701C, and Sienci says the standard LongMill MK2 mount has a 65 mm bore and the RT0700/RT0701 is the router it has thoroughly tested on it.[10][13]
Is the DeWalt DWP611 69 or 71 mm?
Both labels are in use. FoxAlien and Carbide 3D call their DWP611 holders and boots 69 mm, while Sienci lists its 71 mm LongMill mount for the DWP611. Buy the holder whose maker names the DWP611 and your machine; the DWP611 mount guide explains.[10][1][7]
Can I adapt an 80 mm mount to a 65 mm router?
Only with a part its maker documents. PwnCNC sells 80-to-65 mm reducing shims and says its shims were designed primarily around PwnCNC spindle mounts. No source we read offers a universal ring.[12]
