Shapeoko 4 and Shapeoko Pro: spindle kit, mount and boot fit
What Carbide 3D names for the Shapeoko 4 and Pro: the 65 mm VFD kit, the 2021 69 mm DeWalt mount, Hybrid Table hardware and Sweepy 2.0.
Also listed as Shapeoko 4, Shapeoko Pro, HDZ
Short answer
Carbide 3D says its 65 mm VFD Spindle Kit should fit the Shapeoko 4 and Shapeoko Pro. Their Z-Plus has no alternate mount position, and their Hybrid Table takes Carbide 3D's M6 x 1.0 Nutz 'n Bolts hardware. In May 2021 Carbide 3D announced a 69 mm DeWalt mount for these machines and the HDZ (V4.0); that is history, not current stock.

- Other mounts the maker lists
- A 69 mm spindle mount for DeWalt routers, announced in May 2021 for the Shapeoko Pro, Shapeoko 4 and HDZ (V4.0)[3]Historical announcement. It says nothing about current availability and does not name XL or XXL sizes separately.
- Mounts and kits the maker excludes
- Carbide 3D's 80 mm Spindle Mount for the Shapeoko 5 Pro will not fit other Shapeoko machines, and its 80 mm spindle kit lists the Shapeoko 5 Pro as the only supported machine.[4][5]
- Spindle kits that name it
- Carbide 3D 65 mm VFD Spindle Kit (Carbide 3D says it should fit)[1]
- Supply the maker's kits require
- Carbide 3D: the 65 mm VFD Spindle Kit is 110 V only, does not work on 220 V power and does not work on a GFCI outlet.[1]Quoted from the maker. The kit manual and a qualified electrician decide the circuit; never remove or bypass GFCI protection.
- Collets supplied
- With the current 65 mm VFD kit: 1/8, 1/4 and 3/8 in ER16 collets and an ER16M nut with an M19 thread[6]These come with the spindle kit, not with the machine.
- Table and workholding thread
- Hybrid Table with M6 x 1.0 hardware: Carbide 3D lists the Shapeoko 4 and Shapeoko Pro for its Crush-It Nutz 'n Bolts kit (M6 x 1.0 bolts and Teez Nutz). Its Lock Stops work on Shapeoko machines with its side clamps.[7][8]
- Dust boots that name it
- Carbide 3D Sweepy 2.0, in 65 mm (Compact Router, VFD kit or Makita), 69 mm (DeWalt) or 80 mm collar sizes[9]Carbide 3D says Sweepy 2.0 works with any Shapeoko Z axis without adapters.
- Maker support for third-party parts
- Not confirmed
- Revisions and conflicts
- Carbide 3D's 65 mm VFD kit moved from ER11 (V1) to ER16 in May 2025. The 69 mm DeWalt mount is a May 2021 announcement.[2][3]

Watch out for
- The Z-Plus on the Shapeoko 4 and Pro has no alternate spindle-mount position, so the raise-the-mount step in Carbide 3D's guide applies only to the Shapeoko 5 Pro.
- The 69 mm DeWalt mount is a May 2021 announcement for the Shapeoko Pro, Shapeoko 4 and HDZ (V4.0). Check Carbide 3D's current store before planning around it.
- Carbide 3D's 80 mm mount and 80 mm spindle kit are for the Shapeoko 5 Pro only.
This is a reference for owners, not a machine recommendation. For DeWalt mount sizes, see 69 mm mounts and 71 mm mounts.
