Short answer
80 mm is the common size for 1.5 to 2.2 kW spindles, and most makers pair it with ER20 collets (PwnCNC, Onefinity, Carbide 3D). Machine-specific 80 mm mounts exist for the Shapeoko 5 Pro, Onefinity Z-16 and Gen 2 Z-20, the LongMill and some Genmitsu machines; each fits only the machines its maker names.

Key facts
- Nominal bore
- 80 mm (about 3.15 in, calculated from 25.4 mm per inch)[1][2]A calculation, not a tolerance.
- Labels makers use
- 80 mm mount, 80 mm clamp (VEVOR), 80 mm holder (SainSmart), 80 mm body (VEVOR)[1][3][4][5]VEVOR figures are listing claims.
- Routers and spindles made to it
- Carbide 3D 80 mm water-cooled spindle; PwnCNC 80 mm ER20 motors (1.5 kW at 110 V, 2.2 kW at 220 V); Onefinity Redline 80 mm 1.5 kW (110 V) and 2.2 kW (220 V); VEVOR 2.2 kW spindles (listing claims)[6][7][8][9][3][4]
- Machines with a holder in this size
- Shapeoko 5 Pro (Carbide 3D 80 mm mount, four M6 x 35 mm bolts, fits no other Shapeoko); Onefinity Z-16 original slider (1z1680mmspindlemount); Onefinity Gen 2 Elite Z-20 (z2080mmmountGen2); Sienci LongMill (80 mm router mount); PwnCNC Spindle Mount (80 mm bore, adapter plate needed off the Dominator); SainSmart's earlier water kit (80 mm holder with plates for PROVerXL and 3030-PROVer MAX/4040-PRO MAX)[1][10][11][12][13][5]
- Rings and shims to other sizes
- PwnCNC reducing shims 86 to 80 mm (60 mm high), 89 to 80 mm (44 or 65 mm), 108 to 80 mm (44 mm) and 80 to 65 mm (42 or 90 mm)[14]PwnCNC says its shims were designed mainly around its own mounts and should sit evenly without overlapping a split, bolt or obstruction.
- Collet systems makers pair with it
- ER20: PwnCNC's 80 mm mount pairs with ER20 motors; Onefinity Redline 80 mm kits (1/2, 3/8, 1/4, 1/8 in); Carbide 3D 80 mm kit (1/8, 1/4, 1/2 in); VEVOR 2.2 kW listings. Exception: SainSmart's earlier 1.5 kW water kit with an 80 mm holder used ER11.[15][8][9][16][3][5]
- Dust boots for this size
- Carbide 3D Sweepy 2.0 80 mm (in the 80 mm kit); Onefinity Suckit SM (80 mm only); PwnCNC PwnBoot (80 mm only, 4 in intake). Sienci says its 80 mm LongMill mount will not work with the MK2 dust shoe.[17][16][18][19][12][20]Carbide 3D does not recommend 35 mm vacuum hoses with its 80 mm spindle because they can clog.
- How to check yours
- Measure the body's outside diameter with a caliper on the band the mount clamps, and the mount's inside diameter. PwnCNC advises measuring mount ID, usable clamp height and body OD before ordering a shim.[14]Plain technique; we give no tolerance.
Watch out for
- Every 80 mm machine mount here is machine-specific: Carbide 3D's fits only the Shapeoko 5 Pro, and Onefinity's Z-16 and Gen 2 Z-20 mounts exclude each other's machines.
- 80 mm does not always mean ER20: SainSmart's earlier 1.5 kW water kit with an 80 mm holder used ER11.
- Sienci's 80 mm LongMill mount will not work with the MK2 dust shoe.
- Carbide 3D does not recommend 35 mm vacuum hoses with its 80 mm spindle.

Questions
Which collet do 80 mm spindles use?
Most 80 mm kits we found use ER20: PwnCNC pairs its 80 mm mount with ER20 motors, and Onefinity's and Carbide 3D's 80 mm kits ship ER20 collets up to 1/2 in. SainSmart's earlier 1.5 kW water kit with an 80 mm holder used ER11, so check the kit page.[15][8][16][5]
