Grass bags and bagger kits: bag only, bag and frame, or full kit

Short answer

For a walk-behind mower, decide whether you need the fabric bag, the frame or both, because makers sell them separately. For a riding mower or zero-turn, order the bagger its maker lists for your model, deck size, deck style and years, and make sure the kit is complete, weights included. Capacity comes last: a bushel figure never proves fit.

The decisions, in order

1. Walk-behind: fabric, frame or both. RYOBI's AC21GB is a 21-inch fabric replacement bag; the frame is not included.^[1] RYOBI lists it for the RY401140/RY401014, RY401150/RY401015, RY401200/RY401020, RY401210/RY401021, RY401220/RY401022, RY40HPLM01, RY40HPLM02 and RY40HPLM05.^[1] Toro's walk power mower bag frame 132-4483-03 is sold without the fabric bag.^[2] Toro's 59305 bag is made to go on and off the mower's bag frame, but its page lists no models and does not say whether a frame is included.^[3]

2. Riding: model, deck size, deck style and years. Cub Cadet's 19B30031100 double bagger fits XT1 and XT2 Enduro Series riding mowers from 2010 onward with 42- or 46-inch decks.^[4] Husqvarna's 960 73 00-04 is a 42-inch double bagger for stamped decks only.^[5] Husqvarna's fit chart sorts baggers by deck size and by deck style: Stamped, Fabricated, Clear Cut and LRV.^[6] Troy-Bilt lists its 19B30031GFP bagger for "most" Craftsman, Cub Cadet, Troy-Bilt, Yard Machines, Bolens and Huskee riding mowers with 42- or 46-inch decks from 2010 on;^[7] "most" means you still check your model.

3. A complete kit, weights included. Cub Cadet's 42/46-inch double bagger carton holds a boot assembly, two grass bag assemblies, supports, a hose, adapter and hitch brackets, an RZT bagger weight with three weight plates, weight hanger brackets and hardware packs.^[8] EGO's ABK4200 kit for the 42-inch Z6 zero-turn includes the bagger, bagging blades and counterweights,^[9] which EGO says balance the weight of the bagger to maintain a smooth, stable ride.^[9] Deck style can add a part: on Cub Cadet's 50/54-inch double bagger, 50- and 54-inch stamped decks need a chute adapter first.^[8]

4. Capacity last. Cub Cadet says the two vented bags of the 19B30031100 hold up to 6.5 bushels in total.^[4] Husqvarna lists the 960 73 00-04 as two bins with 6 bushels in total.^[5] Cub Cadet's 19A30056100 triple bagger is listed at 10 bushels.^[10] These are the makers' totals for the whole system, not per bag, and a bigger figure does not make a bagger fit.
