Replacement grass bag or bag and frame?

Short answer
First check what the listing actually is: the fabric bag only, the frame only, or both. RYOBI's AC21GB is fabric only, with the frame not included.[1] Toro's 132-4483-03 is the opposite: a frame sold without the fabric bag.[2] If your old frame is bent or broken, you need both parts, ordered by your mower's model number.

Three kinds of listing
A walk-behind grass bag is usually two parts: a fabric bag and a metal bag frame that holds it open and hooks onto the mower. Makers sell them in different ways.
- Fabric only. RYOBI's AC21GB page states "Includes Fabric Only; Frame Not Included."[1] That is a bag-only part: you keep your old frame.
- Frame only. Toro's walk power mower grass bag frame 132-4483-03 says the bag is sold separately.[2]
- Not stated. Toro's grass bag 59305 is described as made for easy on and off of "your mower's bag frame", but the page does not say whether a frame comes with it and lists no mower models.[3] When a page says neither, do not assume either way.
| Part | Fabric | Frame | Models stated on the page |
|---|---|---|---|
| RYOBI AC21GB | Yes | Not included | Eight RYOBI model pairs[1] |
| Toro 132-4483-03 | Sold separately | Yes | None by number; Toro names FWD Recycler low wheel, high wheel and SmartStow mowers[2] |
| Toro 59305 | Yes | Not stated | None[3] |
Read the maker's model list
The model list decides fit, not the deck width. RYOBI lists the AC21GB for the RY401140/RY401014, RY401150/RY401015, RY401200/RY401020, RY401210/RY401021, RY401220/RY401022, RY40HPLM01, RY40HPLM02 and RY40HPLM05.[1] A RYOBI 21-inch mower that is not on that list is not confirmed, even though the bag is 21 inches. The RYOBI 40V bag and blade guide sets the list out model by model, and the RYOBI RY401014 page shows what else is listed for that mower.
Your model number is on a label on the deck or handle. The model and serial number guide shows where to look.
When the page names no models
Go to your mower's parts diagram. Toro's parts page for the 22-inch Recycler 21465 has a separate Grass Bag Assembly drawing next to the Engine and Blade Assembly drawing.[4] Toro also keeps separate parts records for that model by serial range, including one for serials 420000000 to 999999999 with its own Grass Bag Assembly drawing.[4] So for Toro, you need the serial number as well as the model number. The Toro Recycler bag guide walks through it, and the mower model parts finder links the model pages we cover.

Toro 22-inch Recycler owners: confirm 139-5471 on Toro's parts page for your model and serial range before ordering, and check whether your frame is still sound, because we have not verified whether this listing includes a frame.

Check the old bag and frame first
Toro's 21465 manual tells owners to check the grass catcher components and the discharge chute frequently for wear or deterioration, and to replace them with genuine Toro parts when necessary.[5] That check also tells you what to order:
- Fabric torn or worn through, frame straight and intact: a fabric-only bag for your model.
- Frame bent, cracked or missing hooks: a frame, plus fabric if the old bag is also worn.
- Not sure the old frame matches your model's parts list: order by the parts diagram rather than reusing it.
The same Toro manual says not to operate the mower without all guards and safety devices in place.[5] A damaged catcher is a reason to stop and replace it, not to mow without it.
Brands we could not verify
We could not read the Greenworks and Honda grass bag pages, so this site gives no Greenworks or Honda bag part numbers and no statement about whether their bags include a frame. Use the maker's own parts lookup with your model number, or ask a dealer.

Questions
Do replacement grass bags come with a frame?
Some do not, and the maker's page says which. RYOBI's AC21GB is fabric only with the frame not included, while Toro's 132-4483-03 is a frame sold without the fabric bag.[1][2]
How do I know which bag fits my mower?
Find your mower's model number (and serial number for brands like Toro) and check it against the maker's model list or parts diagram. RYOBI, for example, lists eight mower model pairs for the AC21GB.[1]
Can I reuse my old bag frame?
Only if it is intact and it is the frame your model's parts list shows. Toro's 21465 manual tells owners to check grass catcher components frequently for wear or deterioration and replace them with genuine Toro parts when necessary.[5]
Is a 21-inch bag a fit for any 21-inch mower?
No. The deck width is a label, not a fit list. Order by the model list on the maker's page; RYOBI's AC21GB page names eight mower model pairs, and a 21-inch RYOBI mower that is not on it is not confirmed.[1]
Which Greenworks or Honda bag do I need?
We could not read the Greenworks and Honda bag pages, so we give no part numbers for them. Use the maker's parts lookup with your model number.
