Measure your router and table, then buy: sellers, returns and imports

Find your router table plate size and your router's exact model, check the maker's fit list, then the seller, the variant, return terms and import costs.

Short answer

Identify your router and table by exact model, measure the plate opening, thickness, corner radius, miter slot and router model, and check those against the part maker's own fit list. Only then look at the seller, the variant, the return terms and any import costs. Fit comes from the maker's list, never from a listing's "fits most tables".

Why measuring comes first

Router table parts fit by a handful of numbers, and there is no common standard behind them. INCRA says there is no industry-standard opening size.[1] A lift, plate, fence or gauge that fits one table can miss another by a fraction of an inch, and some parts cannot go back once you drill them. A few minutes with a tape and the model plate on your router saves a return.

The steps, in order

1. Identify your router and table. Read the model number from the router's own plate, and the table's model from its maker. Your router's page in the router finder shows which lifts and plates list it; your table's page in the table finder shows its opening, rings and slot.

2. Measure. Record the opening or plate outline, its thickness and corner radius, the miter slot's width and depth, and the router model. Inch-to-millimeter figures are arithmetic: a nominal 9-1/4 x 11-3/4 in outline converts to 234.95 x 298.45 mm, which is not a fit tolerance.[2] The measuring guide has a worksheet.

3. Check the maker's fit list. A router or table that is not on the part maker's list is not confirmed. If your numbers match no list, ask the part maker before you buy.

4. Check the seller and the variant. Read "Ships from / Sold by" on Amazon and the store name on AliExpress. Kreg's 90-day guarantee covers original purchasers in the United States and Canada only for products bought from Kreg or one of its authorized sellers.[3] That does not tell you whether a given marketplace seller is one. The buying checklist covers this step.

5. Returns and import costs. Amazon's US policy lets most items be returned within 30 days of delivery, and returns of third-party seller-fulfilled orders go to the seller.[4] AliExpress's Free Returns apply only to items marked with its icon.[5] For imports, CBP says goods of all countries are no longer eligible for duty-free de minimis treatment from August 29, 2025, regardless of value.[6] For courier shipments into Canada, CBSA remits duties and taxes on goods of CAD 20 or less from most countries, and up to CAD 150 duty and CAD 40 tax for goods from the US or Mexico.[7] These rules change; check them before you order.

Safety checks that belong in the buying step

The router is the powered part. Health Canada advises not buying or using outlet-powered electrical products without a certification mark such as CSA, cUL or cETL;[8] plates, rings and fences carry no such mark because they are not electrical. If you own a Porter-Cable 7518 or 7519, check its date code against CPSC recall 14-221 from 2014 before you buy a lift for it.[9] See router table safety: marks, standards and recalls.

How we earn, said plainly

Store buttons on this site may earn us a commission. The FTC says a label of "affiliate link" alone may not be understood to mean the person placing it is paid, and that the closer a disclosure sits to the recommendation, the better.[10] That is why the disclosure stays beside the buttons.

Where to start once you have measured

Plates and gauges are the parts that depend most on your numbers. These approved ones state their outline, pattern or slot.

Picks that fit4 products

A 9-1/4 x 11-3/4 in opening with a Porter-Cable 690/890 or Bosch 1617: Kreg PRS4036, the predrilled version.

Common questions

Are router lifts on AliExpress genuine?

A listing title cannot tell you. Check whether the store is the brand's own, compare the exact model and variant with the maker's list, and read the return and Buyer Protection terms. We call no store 'official' or 'authorized' from its listing. More in Buying router table parts on Amazon or AliExpress: what to check

How do I know the seller is the brand?

Read 'Ships from / Sold by' on Amazon, or the store name on AliExpress, and compare it with the brand's own dealer information where it has one. JessEm runs a dealer locator, for example. A brand byline on a listing does not name the seller. More in Buying router table parts on Amazon or AliExpress: what to check

Will I pay duty on router table parts?

Possibly. CBP says goods of all countries have been ineligible for duty-free de minimis treatment since August 29, 2025, and confirmed in February 2026 that this continues. In Canada, CBSA's courier remission covers goods of CAD 20 or less from most countries, and up to CAD 150 duty and CAD 40 tax from the US or Mexico. Can I return a plate after drilling it?

No source we found states a rule. AliExpress's Free Returns terms require an item to keep its original quality and functioning with intact packaging, and Amazon may charge a fee of up to 50% for signs of use. Read the seller's terms before you drill. More in Buying router table parts on Amazon or AliExpress: what to check

How do I measure my router table plate?

Measure the plate you have, or the opening if there is no plate: length, width and thickness, then the corner radius. Compare those with the part maker's stated figures. INCRA says there is no industry-standard opening size. More in Measure your router table and router before buying parts

How do I find my router's motor diameter?

Read the model number on your router's model plate, then look it up in the lift maker's chart. JessEm's Mast-R-Lift II manual, for example, lists the Porter-Cable 7518 at 4.2 in and the Milwaukee 5615/5616/5619 at 3.32 in. Do not guess a clamp size from a tape reading. How do I measure a miter slot?

Measure its width at several points along its length and its depth, and look for a wider T-slot at the bottom. INCRA's checker gives a typical 3/4 in slot as 0.740 to 0.770 in wide, at least 0.375 in deep. Compare your numbers with the gauge maker's stated range. My numbers don't match any maker's list. What now?

Ask the part maker before you buy, with your router's model and your measurements. A part that is not listed for your router or table is not confirmed to fit. More in Measure your router table and router before buying parts
