Miter gauges, sleds and setup bars for 3/4 x 3/8 in slots

Approved miter gauges and miter track whose makers state a 3/4 x 3/8 in slot fit, with how to check your router table's actual slot first.

Short answer

Measure your slot first; then, for a 3/4 x 3/8 in slot, choose POWERTEC's 71391 if the slot has a T-slot under it, or Kreg's KMS7102 if it does not. If your top has no slot, POWERTEC's 71568 (track with a bar) or 71566 (track only) adds one. No setup bars or coping sleds are in our approved catalog yet.

How we chose

A part is on this list only if:

  1. The maker states a 3/4 x 3/8 in slot fit. That nominal size is common on router tables: Bosch says the RA1181's slot works with most table saw miter gauges that measure 3/4 in wide x 3/8 in deep.[1] Kreg and POWERTEC each sell the gauges and track below for that slot size.
  2. Actual width matters, so we show the ranges makers publish. INCRA's checker gives a typical 3/4 in slot as 0.740 to 0.770 in actual width, at least 0.375 in deep, with an optional T-slot area 1/8 in high x 15/16 in wide.[2] INCRA's Miter 1000SE adjusts to actual widths of 0.740 to 0.765 in,[3] as do its Miter Slider SE bars.[4] INCRA says the Slider SE is not recommended for stationary jigs that must lock in the slot.[4] Those INCRA parts are not in our approved catalog yet.
  3. It is in our approved catalog with a store listing.

The title also names setup bars and sleds. Kreg's PRS3400 bars are seven sizes from 1/8 to 1/2 in,[5] Woodpeckers' Coping Sled rides the router table fence instead of the slot,[6] and so does WoodRiver's AWR-BCS.[7] None is approved yet, so none is a pick. We do not add others to fill the list.

Gauge with a long fence and swing stop

Kreg KMS7102 Precision Miter Gauge System

Miter gauge with 24 in fence and swing stop (KMS7102)

Pick it if: Router tables with a measured 3/4 x 3/8 in slot

Why it's here
Kreg sells the KMS7102 as a miter gauge with a 24 in fence and swing stop for standard 3/8 x 3/4 in miter slots.
Watch out
Kreg's listing says the bar does not engage a T-slot under the slot. Kreg's figures have not been checked against our fact register yet; compare your slot with Kreg's page. On Amazon, check that 'Ships from / Sold by' shows Amazon.com or Kreg.

Add a slot to a shop-made top, with a bar

POWERTEC 71568 32 in miter T-track with miter T-bar

32 in track with T-bar (71568)

Pick it if: Shop-built router tops without a miter slot

Why it's here
POWERTEC's 71568 pairs a 32 in miter track that takes 3/4 x 3/8 in bars with a T-slot miter bar, and POWERTEC says the track can be cut to length.
Watch out
You have to rout a groove for it; POWERTEC gives no outside dimensions for the extrusion, so check them before cutting. Not yet checked against our fact register. On Amazon, check that 'Ships from / Sold by' shows Amazon.com or POWERTEC.

Check before you order

Measure your slot's width at several points and its depth, and look for a T-slot at the bottom, as the miter slot guide and the measuring guide describe. Then compare with the range on the gauge maker's page. See the miter gauges and T-track hub.

Questions

Will these fit the Bosch RA1181 slot?

Bosch says the RA1181's slot works with most table saw miter gauges that measure 3/4 x 3/8 in, and supplies none. Both gauges here are sold for 3/4 x 3/8 in slots; measure yours to confirm.[1]

Where are the setup bars and coping sleds?

None is in our approved catalog yet. Kreg's PRS3400 setup bars come in seven sizes from 1/8 to 1/2 in, and Woodpeckers' and WoodRiver's coping sleds ride the router table fence rather than the miter slot.[5][6][7]

What if my slot measures wider than 3/4 in?

Compare it with each gauge maker's stated range. INCRA's checker gives a typical 3/4 in slot as 0.740 to 0.770 in wide, while its Miter 1000SE adjusts to 0.740 to 0.765 in; a reading outside a gauge's range means it is not confirmed to fit.[2][3]
