Short answer

Lift makers group router motors by body diameter, mostly about 3.5 in and 4.2 in, and list odd sizes separately with their own clamp setting. Find your exact router model on the lift maker's chart for the lift you want; a diameter that looks close is not a listed fit.

JessEm's Mast-R-Lift II chart

The clearest published chart in our sources is in JessEm's Mast-R-Lift II manual for models 02120 and 02121. Each router gets a clamp setting and a motor body diameter. The values are JessEm's chart values, not tolerances.

Router (as JessEm lists it)Clamp settingDiameter on the chart
Porter-Cable 7518, JessEm 05200 Pow-R-TekA14.2 in
Milwaukee 5626D34.143 in
Ridgid R29302B13.625 in
Porter-Cable 690/890, Bosch 1617/1618, DeWalt 610/618, Craftsman 17543/17540/28190F43.5 in
Milwaukee 5615/5616/5619G33.32 in
Hitachi M12VC/KM12VCE23.267 in
Makita 1101C13.218 in

The manual assigns the Porter-Cable 7518 and JessEm's Pow-R-Tek motor to setting A1 for a 4.2 in motor.[1] It groups the Porter-Cable 690/890, Bosch 1617/1618, DeWalt 610/618 and Craftsman 17543/17540/28190 at setting F4 for a 3.5 in motor.[1] JessEm's product page also puts the DeWalt 616 in the 3.5 in group; the manual chart lists only the 610 and 618.[2]

The odd sizes have their own lines. The Milwaukee 5615/5616/5619 sit at G3 with 3.32 in.[1] The Makita 1101 is 3.218 in at C1, and the Hitachi M12VC/KM12VC is 3.267 in at E2.[1] The Ridgid R29302 is 3.625 in at B1.[1]

The same chart lists the Milwaukee 5626 at 4.143 in.[1] That line is the 5626, not the 5625. No source in our register gives the 5625's diameter.

JessEm's product page groups

JessEm's product page groups its compatible routers by 4.2 in and 3.5 in motor diameter, plus "additional compatible routers".[2] Its 4.2 in group adds the Triton TFBR001 3-1/4 HP.[2]

A diameter range is not a model list

SpeTool lists its P01002 lift for motor diameters of 2.56 to 4.21 in (65 to 107 mm).[3] SpeTool also markets its P01004 for motor bodies of 2-9/16 to 4-1/4 in.[4] These are SpeTool's ranges. A range tells you what the clamp is designed to span, not that your router was checked; look for your model on the maker's own list.

When a 3.5 in lift needs a collar

JessEm lists its Rout-R-Lift 3.5XT for 3.5 in motors and names the Porter-Cable 690/890, Bosch 1617/1618 and DeWalt 610/616/618 among direct fits.[5] JessEm says the Makita 1101 and Hitachi M12VC/KM12VC need an optional 3D-printable collar.[5] That matches the chart above: both motors are smaller than 3.5 in.

Metric

A 4.2 in diameter converts to 106.68 mm.[6] That is arithmetic, not a clamp range.

What we do not publish

JessEm's older Rout-R-Lift II came in several model numbers, but no maker source in our register maps each one to a motor. We do not list per-model diameters for it. Check the model number on your lift and ask JessEm.

Lifts whose maker lists motors

JessEm lists motors by clamp setting for the 02120 and by collar for the 3.5XT.

Picks that fit2 products

Choose the Mast-R-Lift II 02120 for a 4.2 in motor such as the Porter-Cable 7518 or for the odd sizes on its chart, and set the clamp to the chart's setting.

More on choosing

Choose the Rout-R-Lift 3.5XT for a 3.5 in motor; for a Makita 1101 or Hitachi M12VC, add JessEm's optional collar. On Amazon, check that 'Ships from / Sold by' shows Amazon.com or JessEm.

Woodpeckers' store listings offer its QuickLift in separate motor-size versions. Those labels come from the listings, not from our fact register.

Picks that fit2 products

The listings label the QL350 for 3.5 in motors and the QL420 for 4.2 in motors. Find your router on Woodpeckers' own list before you choose.

Questions

What diameter is my router motor?

Look up your exact model on the lift maker's chart. JessEm's Mast-R-Lift II manual, for example, lists the Porter-Cable 7518 at 4.2 in and the Porter-Cable 690/890 and Bosch 1617/1618 at 3.5 in.[1]

Is a 3.5 in lift right for a Porter-Cable 690?

JessEm lists the Porter-Cable 690/890 as a direct fit for its 3.5 in Rout-R-Lift 3.5XT and at the 3.5 in setting on its Mast-R-Lift II chart. For another lift, check that maker's list.[5][1]

Does a Makita or Hitachi motor fit a 3.5 in lift?

JessEm says the Makita 1101 and Hitachi M12VC/KM12VC need an optional 3D-printable collar in its Rout-R-Lift 3.5XT. Its Mast-R-Lift II chart lists them at 3.218 in and 3.267 in with their own clamp settings.[5][1]

Is the Milwaukee 5625 the same size as the 5626?

We cannot say. JessEm's chart lists the 5626 at 4.143 in, but no source in our register gives the 5625's diameter.[1]
