Find your mower's model and serial number
Why parts are listed by model and serial range, with Toro's 21465 and 77508 records, RYOBI's paired numbers and John Deere's notation, quoted as written.

Short answer
Makers list parts by model, and often by serial range too. Toro splits the parts for its 21465 Recycler into eight selectable serial intervals, and the 50-inch TimeCutter 77508 into two ranges. Read both numbers from the mower's label first, then open the parts record for your range.

Model number and serial number
The model number names the mower design. The serial number identifies your individual machine, and makers use it to tell production runs apart. Both are printed on the mower's label; your operator's manual shows where the label sits on your machine.
Write both down, exactly, before you open any parts site.
Why the serial number matters
Makers change parts during a model's life, and they split the parts records by serial range when they do.
- Toro's parts page for the 22-inch Recycler with SmartStow, model 21465, offers eight selectable serial intervals between 400000000 and 999999999.[1]
- Toro keeps a separate 21465 record for serials 420000000 to 999999999, with a Grass Bag Assembly drawing.[1]
- That record shows separate drawings for the grass bag and for the engine and blade assembly.[1]
- Toro's parts page for the 50-inch TimeCutter, model 77508, offers two ranges: 400000000-421999999 and 422000000-999999999.[2]
So one model number can lead to several parts lists. Pick the one whose range holds your serial. See the Toro Recycler 21465 page for its records.
Toro also tells buyers to verify model and serial number before ordering its 108-4140 Z-Master anti-scalp kit.[3] Treat that as the rule for any part.
Two numbers on the box
Some makers list a kit number and a mower number together. RYOBI lists its AC21GB bag for mowers in pairs such as RY401140/RY401014 and RY401150/RY401015.[4] Check your label for either number in the pair; the RYOBI RY401014 page shows how this works.
Model lists also exclude. RYOBI lists its 21-inch blade AC04025 for the RY401014, RY401016, RY40HPLM05 and RY40HPLM01, and excludes the RY40LM01, RY40LM10-Y and RY401130.[5] A model that looks close is not on the list.
Notations to quote, not interpret
John Deere's BUC10284 two-bag collector lists the S100 42-inch tractor as compatible, marked "(010,001-)".[6] The page does not say what the notation means, so we do not read it as a serial cutoff. If your tractor is on that list, ask a John Deere dealer what the mark means for your serial. See the John Deere S100 42-inch page.
Deck style is part of the identity
On riding mowers, the deck can change which parts fit. Husqvarna's accessory fit chart classifies baggers and mulch kits by deck size and deck style, with styles listed as Stamped, Fabricated, Clear Cut and LRV.[7] A stamped deck is pressed from sheet steel; a fabricated deck is welded from heavier plate. Find your deck's style in your manual before you use the chart. The Husqvarna YTH18542 page is one example.
Honda mowers
We could not read Honda's manuals or its parts selectors for the HRN216 and HRX217, so we publish no Honda part numbers. Use Honda's own manual or a Honda dealer for those mowers.
A pick that needs your serial
Picks that fit1 product
Choose the Toro 59534P, one 22 in blade, only after Toro's parts lookup lists it for your model and serial number; Toro's page names no machines.

Questions
Where do I find my mower's model and serial number?
On the mower's label. Your operator's manual shows where the label is on your machine.
What is the difference between a model number and a serial number?
The model number names the design; the serial number identifies your machine and its production run. Makers such as Toro split one model's parts records by serial range.[1]
Why does the serial number matter for parts?
Parts change during a model's life. Toro's 21465 parts page offers eight serial intervals, and its 50-inch TimeCutter 77508 page offers two ranges, 400000000-421999999 and 422000000-999999999.[1][2]
My mower has two numbers on the box; which one do I use?
Some makers list both. RYOBI lists mowers in pairs such as RY401140/RY401014, so either number in the pair leads to the same listing. Check the maker's list for yours.[4]
