Measure, then buy drip parts
Buy drip irrigation parts that fit: measure tubing and threads, find your kit line, read the listing's stated sizes, then check the seller, returns and duty.

Short answer
Measure first, then buy. Know your tubing's OD and ID and every thread on the faucet head, find the kit or brand line you already own, and buy only parts whose listing states those sizes. Then check who sells and ships the item, the return terms, and any import costs before you order.

Why drip parts go wrong online
Most wrong orders come from a size that matches in name only. "1/2 in" tubing is sold at different ODs: DIG lists .600 x .700 in (ID x OD),[1] Raindrip's 062010P is .620 x .710 in,[2] and Rain Bird sells T63, T70 and T71 at 0.63, 0.70 and 0.71 in OD.[3] Metric kits add another layer: AquaGrow tells buyers of its 4/7 mm tee to confirm the actual inner and outer tubing dimensions before ordering, and lists no pressure rating.[4]
The decisions, in order
- Measure your tubing and threads. The measuring guide shows how to read the OD and ID, and the thread guide shows hose vs pipe thread. The 1/2 in size guide explains the three ODs.
- Find your kit or brand line. The kit and system finder lists the tubing, fittings and threads each maker documents. The tubing size finder works from the size you measured, and the connection type finder from the joint you see.
- Read the listing's stated sizes, not its title. A title that says "1/2 in" or "universal" without an OD or ID range has not told you whether it fits. The specs and listings guide shows what to look for. For imported kits, see joining metric tubing to US parts.
- Check who sells and ships. Amazon tells shoppers to check "Sold by" and "Ships from" to see who sells and fulfills a third-party item.[5] Rain Bird's where-to-buy page lists Amazon and links to a Rain Bird brand storefront there,[6] plus its own factory-direct online store.[6] DIG says it does not sell directly to the public[7] and names distributors and retailers such as Drip Depot and The Home Depot.[8]
- Returns and import costs. AliExpress's Free Returns terms apply only to participating products, and the return period depends on the seller's location and the order page.[9] CBP announced on June 24, 2026 that new regulations indefinitely suspend duty-free de minimis treatment for imports valued at $800 or less.[10] That is as of 2026-10-15; check current CBP guidance.
- Keep the order page. It shows the seller, the variant you chose and the return window.
The buying checklist covers sellers, returns and duty for the US and Canada in detail.
How to choose
When the maker states the size and links its own store, buying is simplest. Rain Bird links a brand storefront on Amazon[6] and lists its T70 tubing at 0.70 in OD[3] and its Easy-Fit compression fittings for 0.63 to 0.70 in OD.[11] If your tubing measures 0.70 in OD, those two meet by the maker's own numbers. A brand storefront link does not make every offer on a listing the brand's, so still check the seller.

Common questions
Are Rain Bird parts on Amazon genuine?
Rain Bird links its own brand storefront on Amazon from its where-to-buy page, but that does not cover every seller on every listing. Check that 'Sold by' and 'Ships from' show Rain Bird or Amazon.com. More in Buying drip parts on Amazon or AliExpress
Can I buy DIG drip parts on Amazon?
DIG says it does not sell directly to the public, and its seller list names Drip Depot and The Home Depot but not Amazon. That does not make Amazon listings unauthorized; seller authorization is simply not verified. More in Buying drip parts on Amazon or AliExpress
Are AliExpress drip kits compatible with US parts?
Only where the listing states an ID and OD that match the US part's stated size. See joining metric tubing to US parts. More in Buying drip parts on Amazon or AliExpress
Will I pay duty on drip parts shipped to Canada?
You may. The CBSA says international mail may owe duty and GST/HST/PST, Canada Post charges a handling fee on dutiable mail, and courier or broker fees are separate from duties and taxes. More in Buying drip parts on Amazon or AliExpress
Does AliExpress offer free returns on drip parts?
Only on participating items. AliExpress says the return period depends on the seller's location and the order page, and the item must come back complete in intact packaging. More in Buying drip parts on Amazon or AliExpress
How do I measure drip tubing?
Read any print on the tube or in the kit papers first. If there is none, cut a clean, square end and measure its outside diameter with calipers, taking a few readings around the tube. More in How to measure drip tubing before you buy fittings
Do I measure the inside or outside diameter for drip fittings?
Measure the outside diameter for compression and most locking fittings, which are listed by OD. Barbed inserts go inside the tube, and some makers list locking fittings by both; DIG lists NUTLOC by ID (.530, .600 or .620 in) and by OD (.630-.710 in). Can I measure drip tubing with a ruler?
We found no maker or extension source that gives a measuring method or tolerance. The common 1/2 in sizes differ by as little as 0.01 in (.700 vs .710 in OD), which a ruler cannot resolve, so calipers are the practical tool. More in How to measure drip tubing before you buy fittings
Questions
How do I know which drip parts fit my system?
Measure your tubing's OD and ID and check each thread, then buy parts whose listing states those sizes. The measuring guide and the tubing size finder help.
Where can I buy genuine Rain Bird or DIG drip parts?
Rain Bird links its own online store and a Rain Bird brand storefront on Amazon from its where-to-buy page. DIG does not sell to the public; its list names distributors and retailers such as Drip Depot and The Home Depot. On any marketplace, check who the seller is.[6][7][8]
Will AliExpress drip kit tubing fit US parts?
Only if the listing states an ID and OD that match the US part. AquaGrow, for example, asks buyers to confirm the actual dimensions of 4/7 mm tubing. See joining metric tubing to US parts.[4]
Will I pay duty on drip parts shipped to the US or Canada?
Possibly. CBP announced on June 24, 2026 that duty-free de minimis treatment is suspended indefinitely; check current CBP guidance. For Canada, see the buying checklist.[10]
