Rain Bird 1800-RETRO and riser kits: spray head to drip
Rain Bird's 1800-RETRO drops into an existing 1804 body: 30 psi, 200 mesh, 0.5-6 GPM. The Riser Connection Kit and CNV182EMT cover other heads.

Short answer
Rain Bird's 1800-RETRO drops into an existing Rain Bird 1804 spray body to turn it into a drip outlet, with 30 psi regulation, a 200 mesh (75 micron) screen and a 0.5-6 GPM flow range. The Riser Connection Kit converts an 1800 head or a riser, and CNV182EMT converts a pop-up with a 1/2 in threaded bottom inlet into six drip ports. See converting a sprinkler zone to drip.
Key facts
- What it is
- Spray-to-drip kits: 1800-RETRO drops into an existing Rain Bird 1804 body; the Riser Connection Kit converts an 1800 spray head or a riser; CNV182EMT converts a pop-up with a 1/2 in threaded bottom inlet into a 6-port drip system[1][2][3]
- Tubing
- CNV182EMT includes 50 ft of 1/4 in tubing and a manifold for 1/4 in tubing[3]
- Fitting type
- 1800-RETRO includes a low-profile barb tee and elbow. Rain Bird's XF elbow and tee adapters (1/2 in FPT inlet) from the kit are now sold separately, for XF Series dripline[1][4]
- Threads
- 1800-RETRO: 1/2 in female-threaded inlet, 1/2 in male-threaded swivel outlet. CNV182EMT: for a 1/2 in threaded bottom inlet. Riser Connection Kit: riser thread size not stated[1][3][2]
- Emitters or outlets
- CNV182EMT: six emitters on a 6-port manifold[3]
- Filtration
- 1800-RETRO: accessible 200 mesh (75 micron) screen, replacement RBY-200SSMX. Riser Connection Kit: 200 mesh filter. CNV182EMT: includes a filter[1][2][3]
- Maker cautions
- 1800-RETRO is stated only for existing 1804 bodies. CNV182EMT excludes 1802 and 1803 bodies, and the other heads in the zone must be capped (Rain Bird names 1800CAPS)[1][3]
- Parts the maker lists for it
- RBY-200SSMX replacement screen; XF elbow and tee adapters; 1800CAPS; the Riser Connection Kit's swivel tee[1][4][3][2]
- Maker-page conflicts
- The 1800-RETRO page converts 30 psi as 2.0 bar in one place and 2.1 bar in another[1]
- Not confirmed
- Not confirmedThe Riser Connection Kit page gives no riser thread size, flow range or model number in its text. No source covers these kits in other makers' spray bodies. Valves and controllers are outside these kits and this page.
Watch out for
- 1800-RETRO is stated for existing Rain Bird 1804 bodies only, not every spray body.
- CNV182EMT excludes 1802 and 1803 bodies.
- Rain Bird says to cap the other heads in the zone; it names 1800CAPS.
- The XF elbow and tee adapters have a 1/2 in FPT inlet and are for Rain Bird's XF Series dripline.
Questions
Will the 1800-RETRO fit my spray body?
Rain Bird states it only for existing Rain Bird 1804 spray bodies. For a pop-up with a 1/2 in threaded bottom inlet, Rain Bird lists CNV182EMT, which excludes 1802 and 1803 bodies.[1][3]
What pressure and filter do these retrofit kits use?
Rain Bird lists 30 psi regulation for all three. The 1800-RETRO and Riser Connection Kit use 200 mesh screens.[1][2][3]
What if I only have a riser, not a spray body?
Rain Bird's Riser Connection Kit converts an 1800 spray head or a riser to drip, with a 200 mesh filter, 30 psi regulator and swivel tee. Its page does not state the riser thread size.[2]
