Short answer

John Deere's maintenance sheet for the D100 with a 42-inch deck lists blade GX22151 and blade kit GY20850. For 48-inch decks, Oregon's 92-105 is a 17-1/16 inch, 7-point star blade that Oregon says takes three per 48-inch cut and cross-references John Deere GX21784, GX21785, GX21786, GY20852 and AM137757.

D100 with 42-inch deck

John Deere's D100 42-inch maintenance sheet lists five parts: blade GX22151, blade kit GY20850, bagging kit AM141034, mulching kit AM141033 and gage wheel GX10168.[1]

The sheet labels GX22151 as the blade and GY20850 as the blade kit. It does not describe what the kit contains, so check the kit's listing for its count and hardware before you order. Confirm your serial number and any newer number on John Deere's parts lookup too. See the John Deere D100 42-inch page and the 42-inch deck page.

48-inch decks: Oregon 92-105

Oregon's 92-105 mulching blade is 17-1/16 inches long measured diagonally, with a 7-point star center hole, 2.75-inch width and 0.164-inch thickness.[2] Oregon says it requires three blades for a 48-inch cut.[2]

Oregon lists it as a replacement for John Deere parts including GX21784, GX21785, GX21786, GY20852 and AM137757.[2] That is Oregon's cross-reference, not John Deere's. Match it to your own OEM part number and your deck. See the 48-inch deck page and 7-point star holes.

Three blades per 48 inches is the count for these John Deere applications. Other 48-inch decks use a different number of blades per deck; our blades per deck guide shows why.

S100 to S130: the two-bag collector

John Deere lists its BUC10284 two-bag material collection system with a 6.5-bushel hopper for the S100, S110, S120 and S130 42-inch tractors.[3] Each model row carries the mark "(010,001-)".[3] The page does not say what the mark means, so we do not read it as a serial cutoff. Ask a John Deere dealer what it means for your tractor. See the John Deere S100 42-inch page.

S240: do you need special blades for the bagger?

John Deere lists an optional 6.5-bushel rear bagger for the S240's 42-inch deck and says special blades are not required, though they can be installed for enhanced performance. The same page says high-lift bagging blades are included with the bagger chute.[4] Read both statements together, and check the bagger listing for what it includes. See the John Deere S240 page.

What we could not confirm

We could not confirm John Deere's mulch cover for the 115 with its 42-inch Edge deck, so we publish no part for it. Use John Deere's parts lookup or a dealer.
