Identify and measure: model, part number, blade size and sellers
A lawn mower parts lookup in order: model and serial number, the maker's part number, measuring only as a fallback, then sellers, returns and import costs.
Short answer
Before you order any mower part, write down the model and serial number from the mower's label, then find the part number the maker lists for that serial range. Measure the old part only when no number survives. Then check who sells the listing and what returns and import charges apply.

What this topic covers
Most wrong orders start before the shopping: the wrong model, the wrong serial range, or a measurement taken the wrong way. This hub covers how to identify your mower and its parts, how to look up a part number, how to measure a blade when the number is gone, and what to check about sellers, returns and import costs in the US and Canada.
The decisions, in order
1. Model and serial number. One model can have several parts records. Toro's parts page for the 22-inch Recycler model 21465 offers eight selectable serial-number intervals between 400000000 and 999999999.[1] Toro's parts page for the 50-inch TimeCutter model 77508 offers two ranges, 400000000-421999999 and 422000000-999999999, so pick yours before you read the parts list.[2] The model and serial number guide shows where makers put the label.
2. The part number, and the maker's or Oregon's lookup. With the model and serial in hand, open the parts drawing. Toro's 21465 parts page shows separate Grass Bag Assembly and Engine and Blade Assembly drawings.[1] For aftermarket blades, Oregon's part finder lets owners search by equipment brand and model or by the OEM part number of the part being replaced.[3] See find a mower blade by part number.
3. Measure only if there is no number. USA Mower Blades measures blade length diagonally from one tip to the opposite tip, and warns that measuring end to end gives the wrong length.[4] Length is one field among many: Oregon's Blades by Length catalog records each blade's length, center hole, outer hole, center-to-center spacing, width, thickness, offset, air lift and an L-cut flag.[5] The blade measuring guide covers each one.
4. The seller and the returns. Oregon's retailer directory lists Amazon as an online retailer in the United States for its lawn and outdoor power equipment products,[6] and its US and Canada directory does not list AliExpress.[6] On Amazon, read "Ships from / Sold by" on the listing. The buying checklist covers warranties and returns.
5. Import costs. CBP says that since 12:01 a.m. on August 29, 2025, goods of all countries are no longer eligible for the duty-free de minimis exemption, regardless of value or origin.[7] In Canada, CBSA says mail items valued at CAN$20 or less are free of duty and tax, and items above CAN$20 are taxed on their full value.[8] See duties and returns in the US and Canada.
A worked example
Say you own a Toro 22-inch Recycler 21465. Read the serial number on the label, choose the matching interval on Toro's parts page, and open the Engine and Blade Assembly drawing for the blade or the Grass Bag Assembly drawing for the bag.[1] Order the number it shows. If you buy from a marketplace, check the seller before you pay.

Common questions
Is it safe to buy mower blades on Amazon?
No listing is safe by default. Check that the part number and the maker's model list match your mower, then read "Ships from / Sold by" on the listing. Oregon's retailer directory lists Amazon in the US as an online retailer for its lawn products, which does not make every Amazon seller authorized. Does Oregon have an AliExpress store?
Oregon's US and Canada retailer directory does not list AliExpress. It lists Amazon and Amazon Canada as online retailers, and Oregon's own web store calls itself the official online store for Oregon products. More in Buying mower blades and parts on Amazon and AliExpress: what to check
Will EGO's warranty cover a blade bought from any seller?
Not necessarily. EGO's warranty applies only to the original purchaser when the product was bought from an authorized EGO retailer, and EGO says it may reject claims for products bought from unauthorized sellers. EGO covers blades for 90 days of consumer use. More in Buying mower blades and parts on Amazon and AliExpress: what to check
Can I return a used mower blade?
Expect a smaller refund, if any. Amazon says refunds may be reduced for returned items showing customer use, damage or missing parts. Check fit against the part number before you install a blade. More in Buying mower blades and parts on Amazon and AliExpress: what to check
How do I find a mower blade by part number?
Take the number from your parts list, maintenance sheet or old blade and search it in the maker's parts lookup or Oregon's part finder, which accepts the OEM number of the part you are replacing. More in Find a mower blade by part number
What does "replaces part number" mean?
It is the maker saying a new number supersedes an old one, as Toro says 59534P replaces 59534. The pages we read state one direction only and do not say the parts are identical. More in Find a mower blade by part number
Does an aftermarket cross-reference prove fit?
No. It is that aftermarket maker's statement, such as Oregon listing 92-105 for John Deere GX21784. Check length, center hole and blade count against your deck too. More in Find a mower blade by part number
What if my old part number is no longer sold?
Look for the maker's "replaces" statement on the new part's page. Cub Cadet, for example, says 19B30031100 replaces 19A30003100 and 19A30031100. More in Find a mower blade by part number
Questions
What do I need before ordering a mower part?
The model and serial number from the mower's label, and the part number the maker lists for that serial range. Toro's parts page for the 21465 Recycler offers eight serial-number intervals, so the serial decides which record you read.[1]
What if the part number is worn off?
Look it up from your model's parts drawing, or search Oregon's part finder by brand and model. Only measure as a last step: USA Mower Blades measures blade length diagonally from tip to opposite tip. See how to measure a mower blade.[3][4]
