Sander dust port to shop-vac hose: maker routes for DEWALT and Bosch
How DEWALT and Bosch say to connect their sanders to a shop-vac hose: the DWV9000, VAC002 and VAC024 routes, and when a generic step adapter makes sense.

Short answer
Start with the route the sander's maker names. DEWALT names the DWV9000 for connecting its sanders to other vacuums with 1-1/4-inch hoses.[1] Bosch puts a VAC002 adapter in the ROS20VSC box and names VAC002 or VAC024 for 1-1/4 or 1-1/2-inch hoses.[2] Use a generic step adapter only after you measure the port.
DEWALT DWE6423 and DCW210B
DEWALT says the DWE6423 sander's dust port fits directly to its DWV010 and DWV012 dust extractors.[1] To connect it to other vacuum systems with 1-1/4-inch hoses, DEWALT names the DWV9000.[1]
DEWALT's support answer gives the same route for the DWE6423K, DWE6421, DWE6421K, DWE6420 and DWE6411.[3] It does not say every other brand's hose cuff fits the DWV9000. Check your hose end against it.
The cordless DCW210B follows the same pattern: DEWALT says its port fits the DWV010 and DWV012 directly and recommends the DWV9000 for other vacuums with 1-1/4-inch hoses.[4] The DEWALT AirLock guide covers what each DEWALT adapter joins.
Bosch ROS20VSC
Bosch lists a VAC002 vacuum hose adapter in the ROS20VSC box and names VAC002 or VAC024 for connecting to 1-1/4 or 1-1/2-inch vacuum hose.[2] So for this sander, the adapter you need may already be in the case.
Bosch's 35 mm VAC005 hose lists the ROS20VS among compatible tools.[5] That is a Bosch hose for Bosch's own list; see the metric hose guide before mixing brands.
| Sander | Maker's direct fit | Maker's route to other vacs | Source |
|---|---|---|---|
| DEWALT DWE6423 | DWV010, DWV012 | DWV9000 for 1-1/4 in hoses | [1] |
| DEWALT DCW210B | DWV010, DWV012 | DWV9000 for 1-1/4 in hoses | [4] |
| Bosch ROS20VSC | VAC002 in the box | VAC002 or VAC024 for 1-1/4 or 1-1/2 in hose | [2] |
Generic adapters: stated ranges, not promises
If your sander's maker names no route, a generic adapter is the fallback. Cen-Tec sells soft TPE Quick Click tool adapters labeled 0.75, 1, 1.25 and 1.5 inches.[6] Those are nominal port labels, not drawings.
Cen-Tec also lists an adjustable adapter (part 41851) with a stated range of 0.5 to 2.63 inches.[6] A stated range is the maker's claim. It is not proof that the adapter seals on every port inside it. Measure your port and compare.
Cen-Tec's Quick Click parts also need the right hose: Cen-Tec says its threaded fittings fit 1-1/4-inch threaded crushproof hose and not most blow-molded hoses supplied with shop vacuums.[7]

Questions
What adapter connects a DEWALT sander to a RIDGID or Shop-Vac hose?
DEWALT names the DWV9000 for connecting the DWE6423 and DCW210B to other vacuums with 1-1/4-inch hoses. It does not say every other brand's cuff fits, and a 2-1/2-inch floor hose is a different size.[1][4]
Does the Bosch ROS20VSC come with a vacuum adapter?
Yes. Bosch lists a VAC002 vacuum hose adapter in the box and names VAC002 or VAC024 for 1-1/4- or 1-1/2-inch vacuum hose.[2]
Will a rubber step adapter fit my sander?
Maybe. Makers state size ranges, such as Cen-Tec's 41851 at 0.5 to 2.63 inches, but a stated range is not proof for every port. Measure your port and compare it with the adapter maker's figures first.[6]
