27, 32, 35 and 36 mm vacuum hoses: metric sizes are not one standard
Bosch 35 mm, DEWALT 36 mm AirLock and Festool D 27 and D 36 hoses each use their own connectors. What each maker lists, and why millimeters alone don't decide fit.

Short answer
Metric hose numbers belong to each maker's system, not to one shared standard. Bosch's 35 mm hose, DEWALT's 36 mm AirLock parts and Festool's D 27 and D 36 hoses each use their own connectors. Match a hose by the maker's list for your tool and vacuum, not by the millimeter figure on the label.
Bosch: 35 mm with an inch vac end
Bosch lists the VAC005 as a 35 mm, 5-meter (16.4-foot) friction-fit hose whose vacuum end is a standard 2-1/4-inch friction fit.[1] Bosch names the ROS20VS sander and the GAS20-17A and VAC140A vacuums among the products compatible with it, in a longer list.[1]
For the ROS20VSC sander, Bosch lists compatible Bosch hoses in both 22 mm and 35 mm, including the VAC005.[2] So one Bosch tool can take more than one Bosch hose size. Both are still Bosch-to-Bosch.
DEWALT: 36 mm AirLock
DEWALT's accessory index lists the DWV9036 as a 36 mm AirLock adapter and the DWV9336 as a 15-foot, 36 mm anti-static non-marking hose.[3] "Anti-static" is DEWALT's product wording; it is not a safety rating. The AirLock guide covers how the DEWALT parts join.
Festool: D 27 and D 36
Festool labels its hoses by a "D" size. Its 577162 connecting sleeve is listed for D 27 and D 27/32 suction hoses and for power tools with D 27 and D 36 flanges.[4] That wording covers Festool flanges. It is not a statement about other brands' 27 or 36 mm ports.
At the extractor end, Festool USA lists the 452892 rotating connector with a 58 mm (2-9/32-inch) external diameter for attaching D 27 hoses to the CT 22 and CT 33 extractor inlets only.[5] Its 204920 rotating adapter connects a D36 or D36/32 antistatic hose to a Festool mobile dust extractor.[6] The Festool sleeves guide goes part by part.
The labels side by side
| Maker | Hose label | Connector named | Other end | Source |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Bosch | 35 mm (VAC005) | friction fit at the tool | 2-1/4 in friction fit at the vac | [1] |
| DEWALT | 36 mm | DWV9036 AirLock adapter | not stated on the index | [3] |
| Festool | D 27, D 27/32 | 577162 bayonet sleeve | 452892 for CT 22 and CT 33 | [4][5] |
| Festool | D36, D36/32 | tool end per Festool's list | 204920 rotating adapter | [6] |
Arithmetic, not fit
One inch is exactly 25.4 mm.[7] By that arithmetic, 27 mm is about 1.063 in, 35 mm about 1.378 in, 36 mm about 1.417 in and 58 mm about 2.283 in. Those conversions help you read a label. They do not tell you that a metric hose end fits an inch port, or that a 35 mm hose fits a 36 mm socket. Each maker shapes its ends its own way.
The Bosch pick
The VAC005 is the metric hose on this page with an approved listing. It suits the Bosch tools Bosch lists and a vac with a 2-1/4-inch friction-fit inlet.
Picks that fit1 product
Choose the 35 mm x 5 m (16.4 ft) VAC005 for a tool on Bosch's compatibility list, such as the ROS20VS, and a vac whose inlet takes a 2-1/4 in friction-fit end.

Questions
Is a 35 mm hose the same as 1-3/8 in?
Close on paper, not the same part. One inch is exactly 25.4 mm, so 35 mm is about 1.378 in and 1-3/8 in is 1.375 in. The arithmetic says nothing about whether the two hoses' ends fit the same port.[7]
Will a Festool hose fit a Bosch sander?
No source in our register says so. Festool lists its sleeves for Festool D 27 and D 36 flanges, and Bosch lists its own hoses for its tools; neither names the other brand.[4][1]
What is the difference between 35 mm and 36 mm hoses?
They belong to different makers' systems. Bosch sells a 35 mm VAC005 hose with a 2-1/4-inch friction-fit vacuum end, while DEWALT sells a 36 mm AirLock adapter and a 36 mm anti-static hose. Match by each maker's list.[1][3]
What does D 27/32 mean?
It is Festool's label for a hose size it lists alongside D 27, for example on its 577162 sleeve "for suction hose D 27 and D 27/32". Keep to Festool's own part pages when matching one.[4]
