Short answer
A magnetic coupling puts a magnet on one half and a ring or plate on the other, so a hose snaps onto a machine port and pulls off by hand. Each brand sells its own halves. No maker in our sources says its parts mate with another brand's, so buy both halves in one system.

Magport
Magport says its 4-inch magnetic coupling is sold individually but needs more than one unit to operate.[1] Plan on buying at least two.
Magport says the collar has a 4-inch outer diameter that fits 4-inch flex hose.[1] It gives no inside diameter. Magport's 4-inch collection lists this single product.[2]
MagFitt
Woodcraft lists the MagFitt 4-inch magnetic machine coupling (model Z-80-2) as ABS plastic with a steel ring, designed to mate with the MagFitt 4-inch magnetic hose connector (model Z-80-1).[3] Woodcraft also says the coupling works with MagFitt's own 4-inch and 4-by-2-1/2-inch magnetic hose connectors.[3]
The page says nothing about Magport, and it gives no collar OD or hose ID. Woodcraft's cross-reference for the 4-by-2-1/2-inch connector uses an item number that does not match that product's own page, so check the connector's own listing before you order it.
Infinity MagSnap
Infinity Tools sells MagSnap ports in 4-inch and 2-1/2-inch hose sizes, with a magnet version for the collector side and a ring version for the tool side.[4] Infinity says the sizes can be mixed to step between them.[4]
Infinity says MagSnap ports are ABS plastic with rare-earth magnets and metal rings, and each port includes a hose clamp.[4]

| MagFitt | 4 in; 4 x 2-1/2 in connector | not stated | machine coupling Z-80-2 with steel ring, mates with hose connector Z-80-1 | ABS | not stated | [3] |
| Infinity MagSnap | 4 in, 2-1/2 in | collector side | tool side, ring | ABS, rare-earth magnets, metal rings | yes, per port | [4] |
What no source gives
None of these pages publishes a holding force, a leakage figure or an airtightness rating. Infinity states none for MagSnap,[4] and the Magport and MagFitt pages give none either. We don't test products, so we can't fill that gap. If a tight seal matters to you, ask the maker what it states.
Fitting a coupling to your hose
Each half still has to meet your hose or port. Magport's collar fits 4-inch flex hose by its outside diameter;[1] MagSnap ports come with a clamp.[4] Check your hose's inside diameter and spiral against the clamp you plan to use; the hose clamps guide explains clamp sizing.

Questions
Do magnetic dust fittings from different brands work together?
No maker in our sources says its halves mate with another brand's. Woodcraft lists MagFitt's coupling as working with MagFitt's own connectors and says nothing about Magport, so buy both halves in one system.[3]
How many Magport couplings do I need?
At least two. Magport says its 4-inch coupling is sold individually but needs more than one unit to operate.[1]
Which side gets the magnet?
It depends on the system. Infinity's MagSnap puts the magnet version on the collector side and the ring version on the tool side; Woodcraft says MagFitt's machine coupling has a steel ring and mates with MagFitt's hose connector.[4][3]
Do magnetic fittings leak?
No maker or independent figure in our sources says. Infinity publishes no holding-force or leakage figures for MagSnap, and the other pages give none either.[4]
