Dust-collector inlet sizes: 4 in inlets, inlet Ys and caps
What Grizzly, Shop Fox and Harbor Freight list for their collector inlets, why the W1685 inlet Y depends on the version, and what to do with an unused inlet.

Short answer
Small single-stage collectors usually list one 4-inch inlet, but some ship with an inlet Y whose openings depend on the machine's version. Read your own unit's manual and parts list, by model and version, before you buy hose or reducers. A 4-inch label on the inlet still tells you nothing about whether a given hose end fits inside or over it.
Why the inlet comes first
Everything in a duct run starts at the collector's inlet. Its size and shape decide the first hose, adapter or wye you buy. The collectors on this page are reference systems we describe so you can find your own inlet. They are not recommendations, and we give no wiring or motor advice.
Grizzly G8027
Grizzly lists the G8027 as a 1 HP dust collector with a 4-inch intake.[1] Its current data sheet lists a 4-inch main inlet and says no inlet adapter is included.[2] That is a nominal size only; the sheet gives no actual inside or outside diameter.
Dates matter here. The data sheet says its information is deemed accurate as of October 12, 2026 and may not describe items previously purchased.[2] An older unit may differ. For identification, the sheet describes the G8027 as a 1 HP single-stage bag collector rated for 120 V, single-phase, 60 Hz.[2]

Shop Fox W1685: the inlet Y depends on the version
An inlet Y splits one collector inlet into two or more openings. Grizzly's parts listing for the Shop Fox W1685 shows an inlet Y of 6 inches to two 4-inch openings marked V2.12.01, and also an earlier "INLET 5 X 4 X 4 V1" part.[3] So there is no single W1685 inlet: it depends on which version you own.
Grizzly explains its version codes: a code such as V2.01.17 means version 2, first used in January 2017.[4] Find the code on your machine or its manual, then match the parts list.

Central Machinery 59726
Harbor Freight's manual for the 59726 2 HP collector lists a 4-inch inlet.[5] When building a new system, the manual says to connect 4-inch vent pipe, not included, to the collector's 4-inch inlet side, with tool hoses running to adapters into the pipe.[5]
The manual's drawing shows a multi-opening inlet and a supplied inlet cap, but it does not state each opening's size.[5] When only one inlet is in use, it says to cap the unused one with the supplied inlet cap.[5] To order parts, Harbor Freight asks for UPC 193175575661.[5]

Cyclones in front of a collector
A collector cyclone has its own ports. Oneida says its 4/5-inch Super Dust Deputy models include 4-inch reducer adapters for both inlet and outlet, while the 6-inch models have ports sized for crimped ductwork fittings.[6] Matching a cyclone to the machine covers the rest.

We found no verified source for the inlets of JET's DC-1100VX-CK. If you own one, read JET's manual and parts list for your unit; we do not publish a figure.

Hose for a 4-inch inlet
If your collector's own manual lists a 4-inch inlet, the next part is usually a 4-inch hose. Choosing 4 in collector hose covers ends, spiral and ratings.
Picks that fit2 products
Choose the 4 in x 10 ft 70111 or the 4 in x 20 ft 70143V by the length you need, only for a collector whose manual lists a 4 in inlet.
More on choosing
Read the spiral hand on the listing before you buy bridge clamps. On Amazon, check that 'Ships from / Sold by' shows Amazon.com or POWERTEC.

Questions
What size is my dust collector inlet?
Read your own unit's manual or data sheet. Grizzly lists a 4-inch main inlet for the G8027 and Harbor Freight a 4-inch inlet for the 59726, but those are nominal sizes for those models only.[2][5]
What is an inlet Y and do I need it?
It splits one collector inlet into two or more openings. Whether yours has one, and its sizes, depends on the model and version: Grizzly's W1685 parts list shows a 6 x 4 x 4 Y for V2.12.01 and a 5 x 4 x 4 part for V1.[3]
What do I do with the unused inlet?
Follow your manual. Harbor Freight's 59726 manual says to cap the unused inlet with the supplied inlet cap when only one inlet is in use.[5]
Can I run a 6-inch hose to my collector?
Only where the maker's own inlet part is 6 inches, as on the W1685 V2.12.01 inlet Y in Grizzly's parts list. Check your machine's version first.[3]
What inlet does the JET DC-1100VX-CK have?
We could not confirm it from a verified source, so we publish no figure. Read JET's manual and parts list for your unit.
