Short answer
For a 4 in collector inlet, POWERTEC's 70111 (10 ft) and 70143 (20 ft) are clear hoses its maker lists as 4 in with a stated wall and a left-hand spiral. Rockler's Dust Right expandable hose is the choice when one hose has to reach several machines. All three are hose only, so plan clamps for each end.
How we chose
A hose is on this list only if:
- Its maker states the inside diameter and length. Most 4 in fittings are male and slide inside the hose under a clamp. Infinity Tools, for example, says its 4-inch blast gate has tapered fittings on both sides to accept 4-inch hose and needs hose clamps.[1] So the hose's inside diameter is the number that has to match.
- The spiral hand is stated or easy to check. Lee Valley says its left-hand bridge clamps fit only hoses with a left-hand spiral, identified when the wire spirals counterclockwise at an open end.[2]
- Wall and ratings are read as published. Industrial catalogs list a maximum vacuum rating and bend radius per hose, as McMaster-Carr's duct hose tables do.[3] These hobby hoses publish a wall figure or a coil description but no vacuum rating or bend radius. We say so rather than fill the gap.
- The product is an exact brand and model in our catalog, and its store listing shows a button only after a US "Ships from / Sold by" check.

Short 4 in run, left-hand spiral
POWERTEC 70111 4 in x 10 ft clear flexible PVC dust collection hose, left-hand spiral
Pick it if: A short hose from a 4 in collector inlet to one machine or gate
- Why it's here
- POWERTEC lists the 70111 as a 4 in x 10 ft clear soft-PVC hose with a 0.5 mm wall and interior spring steel wire, left-hand threaded.
- Watch out
- Hose only: no clamps or cuffs. Its left-hand spiral means right-hand bridge clamps and right-hand threaded parts will not fit. POWERTEC publishes no vacuum rating or bend radius. On Amazon, check that 'Ships from / Sold by' shows Amazon.com or POWERTEC.
- Nominal size family
- 4 in
- Inside and outside diameter of each end
- Not stated
- End type (male or female)
- Not stated
- Fitting standard (hose fitting, S&D PVC, Schedule 40, metal pipe)
- Not stated
Values are the manufacturer's specs unless marked.
Longer 4 in run, left-hand spiral
POWERTEC 70143 4 in x 20 ft clear flexible PVC dust collection hose, left-hand spiral
Pick it if: A longer 4 in run from a single-stage collector to a machine or drop
- Why it's here
- POWERTEC lists the 70143 as a 4 in x 20 ft clear soft-PVC hose with a 0.5 mm wall, spiral spring steel wire and a left spiral, rated for -50 to 158 F.
- Watch out
- Hose only, and the same left-hand spiral as the 70111, so buy left-hand or plain clamps. A longer hose is not a sizing recommendation; follow your collector maker's instructions. On Amazon, check that 'Ships from / Sold by' shows Amazon.com or POWERTEC.

Expandable 4 in hose that reaches several machines
Rockler Dust Right 4 in expandable dust collection hose
Pick it if: A collector hose that moves between machines in a small shop
- Why it's here
- Rockler describes its Dust Right hose as 4 in ID vinyl flex hose with a metal reinforcement coil that stretches up to seven times its compressed length, in 2 to 14, 3 to 21 and 4 to 28 ft versions.
- Watch out
- Pick the length version on the listing that covers your run when stretched. Rockler does not state the spiral hand on the page our catalog records, so check it before buying bridge clamps. On Amazon, check that 'Ships from / Sold by' shows Amazon.com or Rockler.

Before you order
- Read your collector's inlet from its maker for your machine's version. Grizzly's G8027 data sheet lists a 4-inch main inlet and says no inlet adapter is included.[4] Harbor Freight's 59726 manual lists a 4-inch inlet.[5]
- Count the clamps: one for each hose end. See hose clamps and couplers.

Questions
How do I tell a left-hand hose?
Lee Valley says you can identify a left-hand spiral when the wire spirals counterclockwise at an open end. Its left-hand bridge clamps fit only such hoses.[2]
Does 4 in hose fit my collector?
If your collector maker lists a 4 in inlet, start there. Grizzly's G8027 data sheet and Harbor Freight's 59726 manual both list a 4-inch inlet; check your own model and version in the inlet finder.[4][5]
Why no 5 or 6 in hose?
No maker page we verified documents a 5 or 6 in hose product, so none is listed. Our 5 and 6 in data covers collector inlets and separator ports only.
