Makita RT0701C
- Labeled 1-1/4 HP maximum horsepower, with a variable no-load speed of 10,000 to 30,000 RPM.[1]
- A corded router with a 1/4 in collet, listed at 3.9 lb and 7-7/8 in overall with the fixed base.[1]
- The 1/4 in collet is part 763637-1, supplied with a trimmer base, straight guide and two spanner wrenches.[1]
- Sienci says the Makita RT0700/RT0701 is the router it has thoroughly tested on the LongMill, whose standard mount has a 65 mm bore.[2]
DeWalt DWP611
DeWalt markets the DWP611 as a "1-1/4 HP MAX" compact router, at 7 amps and corded.[3] Its page lists 27,000 rpm and an extended 8-slot 1/4 in collet.[3] The page gives no low-end speed, so we do not state a full range.
For the mount, see DeWalt DWP611: 69 mm or 71 mm: makers label it both ways.
Carbide 3D Compact Router and ER-11 Compact Router
Carbide 3D's Compact Router has a 65 mm body, a stated speed range of 12,000 to 30,000 RPM and a 120 V US plug. It ships with a 1/4 in factory collet plus a 1/4 and 1/8 in precision collet set.[4]
The ER-11 Compact Router uses standard ER11 collets, ships with 1/4 and 1/8 in ER11 collets plus nut and wrench, and lists a 1/4 in maximum cutter shank.[5] Our Carbide router comparison covers which collets fit which.
Sienci AutoSpin
Sienci's AutoSpin uses ER11 collets for tooling up to 1/4 in and has a 64.8 mm body that Sienci says fits 65 mm router mounts.[6] Sienci also states it has no noise advantage over the Makita RT0701C at the same RPM.[6]
What some machines ship with
Genmitsu lists the 4040-PRO MAX with a 65 mm spindle mount and a 710 W compact router supplied with ER11 collets.[7]

Can a trim router use 1/8 in bits? Only with a collet for that size: Carbide 3D ships 1/8 in collets with both Compact Routers. Never clamp a bit in a collet that is not made for its shank.

Choose the RT0701C with the fixed base and the 1/4 in collet cone; it needs a 65 mm mount.
More on choosing
The RT0701CX3 is the same router as a kit with plunge, tilt and offset bases, if you also want to rout by hand. The 763637-1 collet is the spare 1/4 in cone Makita lists for the RT0701C, not an ER collet. On Amazon, check that Ships from / Sold by is Amazon.com or Makita.

Holders for these routers
Genmitsu's aluminum holder for the 4040-PRO family comes in 65 mm, with the Makita RT0700C as its example, and 69 mm, with the DeWalt DWP611 as its example.[8] FoxAlien's 69 mm XE-Ultra clamp is for the XE-Ultra 8080 and XE-Ultra Core only, because its standard clamp does not fit that machine.[9]

Match the holder to your router and your machine. Genmitsu 101-63-ZC65 for a 65 mm router such as the Makita, or 101-63-ZC69 for a DWP611, on the 4040-PRO family; the FoxAlien XE-Ultra clamp only on the XE-Ultra 8080 or Core.
