Short answer
Trim-router collets are not ER collets, and they are model-specific. The Makita RT0701C ships with a 1/4 inch collet, part 763637-1,[1] and the DeWalt DWP611 with an extended 8-slot 1/4 inch collet.[2] Aftermarket collets and nuts list the exact routers they fit; a part listed for a different model, even from the same brand, may not.

Router collets are a different family
An ER collet sits in a standard taper with a standard nut. A trim router's collet is designed by the router maker for that motor's shaft and nut. Do not assume a collet from one router fits another, and do not assume an ER collet set fits a trim router at all.
Makita RT0701C
The RT0701C is a corded router with a 1/4 inch collet, listed at 3.9 lb and 7-7/8 inches long with its fixed base.[1] Makita lists the included 1/4 inch collet as part 763637-1, supplied with a trimmer base, straight guide and two spanner wrenches, 781039-9 and 781011-1.[1]
If you lose or wear out the collet, the part number is the safest way to order the right one.

Choose Makita part 763637-1, the 1/4 in collet cone for the RT0701C (Makita also lists it for the RT0700C).
More on choosing
It is not an ER collet and does not fit DeWalt or Carbide 3D routers. If buying on Amazon, check that Ships from / Sold by is Amazon.com or Makita.

DeWalt DWP611
DeWalt's DWP611 page lists 27,000 rpm and an extended 8-slot 1/4 inch collet.[2]
Elaire sells aftermarket DWP-series collets listed for the DWP611, DWP611PK and DCW600B, and the Porter-Cable 450 Type 1. Elaire cross-references its 1/4 inch DWP-2500 to manufacturer number A24215SV; that is Elaire's cross-reference, not a part number we confirmed with DeWalt.[3] The DWP series comes in 1/8, 5/32, 3/16, 1/4 and 5/16 inch and in 4, 6 and 8 mm.[3] Elaire does not say DeWalt approves the sizes other than 1/4 inch.
Watch the model number. Elaire's standard DeWalt collets, cross-referenced to 326286-04 for 1/4 inch, are listed for the DW616, DW618 and DW621 routers. Elaire directs DWP611 owners to the DWP series instead.[3]
Nuts and wrenches that only work with their own collets
Some precision collets need their own nut. PreciseBits' DEPG-0611-NUT collet nut and Talon wrench are listed for the DeWalt 611, DeWalt 26200 and Porter-Cable 450, and PreciseBits says they work only with PreciseBits collets, not the router's stock collet.[4] If you buy that nut, buy the matching collets with it.
Carbide 3D's two compact routers
Carbide 3D sells two compact routers with different collets. Its precision collets fit only the Carbide Compact Router; they are not compatible with its ER-11 Compact Router or its VFD spindles.[5] The ER-11 model takes standard ER11 collets instead. See Carbide Compact Router vs ER-11 Compact Router.

Questions
Can I use 1/8 inch bits in a DeWalt DWP611?
DeWalt lists the DWP611 with a 1/4 inch collet. Elaire sells aftermarket DWP-series collets in sizes including 1/8 inch, but it does not say DeWalt approves sizes other than 1/4 inch.[2][3]
Does a DW618 collet fit a DWP611?
No, according to Elaire. Its standard DeWalt collets are listed for the DW616, DW618 and DW621, and it directs DWP611 owners to its separate DWP series.[3]
Do I need a new nut for precision collets?
For PreciseBits' DeWalt 611 parts, yes: its DEPG-0611-NUT and Talon wrench work only with PreciseBits collets, not the stock collet. Check each maker's notes for its own parts.[4]
What is the part number of the Makita RT0701C collet?
Makita lists the RT0701C's included 1/4 inch collet as part 763637-1, supplied with two spanner wrenches, 781039-9 and 781011-1.[1]
Do Carbide 3D's precision collets fit the ER-11 Compact Router?
No. Carbide 3D says its precision collets fit only the Carbide Compact Router, not its ER-11 Compact Router or its VFD spindles.[5]
