Will a dust boot fit? Mount diameter, machine and Z travel
Two checks before buying a CNC dust boot: its collar matches your router or spindle diameter, and its maker names your machine. Sweepy, Suck It, PwnBoot, Genmitsu.

Short answer
Check two things before you buy a dust boot: its collar diameter matches your router or spindle body (42, 52, 65, 69 or 80 mm), and its maker names your machine. Boots are sold by diameter: Carbide 3D's Sweepy 2.0 comes in 65, 69 and 80 mm versions,[1] and Onefinity's Suckit SM fits 80 mm spindles only.[2]
Check 1: the diameter
A dust boot clamps around the router or spindle body, so it is made for one diameter or a narrow band. If you change the motor, you usually change the boot. If you do not know your diameter, see how to measure a router or spindle body.
The DeWalt DWP611 is the classic trap. Sienci lists its 71 mm LongMill mount for the DWP611, while FoxAlien calls its DWP611 clamp 69 mm,[3] and Carbide 3D sells a 69 mm Sweepy for the DeWalt trim router.[1] Buy the boot whose maker names the DWP611, rather than going by the number alone. See DWP611: 69 mm or 71 mm.
Check 2: the machine
The boot also has to suit the Z axis and the way it mounts. Makers state this differently:
- Carbide 3D Sweepy 2.0: 65 mm for the Carbide Compact Router, VFD Spindle Kit or Makita trim routers; 69 mm for the DeWalt trim router; 80 mm for the 80 mm VFD Spindle Kit.[1] Carbide 3D says it works with any Shapeoko Z-axis without adapters, and names no other machines.[1] Its 80 mm spindle kit includes an 80 mm Sweepy 2.0.[4]
- Onefinity Suck It (Gen 1): Onefinity says the Suck It it sells works only with the Onefinity CNC.[5] The regular and Pro versions share the same shoe, with a built-in 2.5 inch hose adapter, and differ only in included parts.[5]
- Onefinity Suckit SM (Gen 2): fits 80 mm spindles only and will not work with 65 mm spindles or the Makita router. It slides over the spindle, tightens with a thumb screw and moves with the Z axis.[2] A maker reply says the original Suck It and Suck It Pro work with both 65 mm and 80 mm boots.[6]
- PwnCNC PwnBoot: PwnCNC says the current PwnBoot is for 80 mm spindles only and offers an email waitlist for 65 mm.[7] A waitlist is not a 65 mm product.
- Genmitsu DS series: Genmitsu matches the DS3018 to 42 mm, the DS52 to 52 mm and the DS69 to 65-69 mm spindles.[8] It says the DS69 is not compatible with 52 mm spindles, and ships it with a spare 65 mm gasket.[9] It lists the DS52 as ABS and aluminum and the DS3018 and DS69 as ABS.[8]
- Sienci LongMill: Sienci says its 71 mm and 80 mm LongMill router mounts will not work with the MK2 dust shoe.[3] Upgrading the mount can mean replacing the boot too.
One listing conflict to know about: the Genmitsu DS52 page gives the spindle diameter as 52 mm (1.65 in) in its text and 52 mm (2.05 in) in its spec table.[8] 52 mm is about 2.05 inches; go by the metric figure.

Choose by body diameter. 65-69 mm (Makita RT0701C class, DWP611 class, 65 mm spindles): Genmitsu DS69 (65 mm gasket fitted, remove it for 69 mm) or the FoxAlien 69 mm shoe, which FoxAlien lists for 52, 65 and 69 mm bodies. 52 mm spindles: Genmitsu DS52. 42 mm (775-type) spindles: Genmitsu DS3018 or FoxAlien 42 mm. None of these is an 80 mm boot.

After a spindle upgrade
Moving from a trim router to a spindle, or from 65 mm to 80 mm, usually changes the body diameter. Check whether the new kit includes a boot; Carbide 3D's 80 mm kit does.[4] If it does not, buy the boot for the new diameter from a maker that names your machine.
What a boot does not promise
No source we found rates any hobby dust boot for dust capture or exposure. Choose it for fit. For what OSHA and NIOSH say about wood dust, see CNC router dust: what OSHA and NIOSH say.

Questions
Will a 65 mm dust boot fit a DeWalt router?
No. Carbide 3D sells Sweepy 2.0 in 65 mm for Makita-class routers and spindles and in 69 mm for the DeWalt trim router. Look for a boot whose maker names the DeWalt.[1]
Does the Onefinity Suckit SM fit a 65 mm spindle?
No. Onefinity says the Suckit SM fits 80 mm spindles only and will not work with 65 mm spindles or the Makita router.[2]
Do I need a new dust boot after a spindle upgrade?
Usually, if the body diameter changes. Sweepy 2.0, for example, comes in separate 65, 69 and 80 mm versions, and Carbide 3D's 80 mm spindle kit includes its own 80 mm Sweepy 2.0.[1][4]
Does a 69 mm Genmitsu shoe fit a 52 mm spindle?
No. Genmitsu says the DS69 is not compatible with 52 mm spindles; it sells the DS52 for those.[9][8]
Will the Onefinity Suck It fit my Shapeoko?
Onefinity states that the Suck It it sells works only with the Onefinity CNC.[5]
