Short answer
Port sizes on dust boots are nominal labels, so check whether the number is an inside or outside diameter before you buy a hose or adapter. Onefinity, for example, calls the Suckit SM port 2.5 inch but lists it at 57.93 mm inside and 67.60 mm outside.[1] Buy replacement brushes from the boot's own maker.
Inside vs outside diameter
A hose either slips over a port (the hose's inside meets the port's outside) or into it (the reverse). A "2.5 inch" label tells you neither. Look for the boot maker's inside and outside figures, then match your hose's cuff.
Ports and adapters by boot
- Carbide 3D Sweepy 2.0: fits a 2.5 inch shop-vac hose as standard and includes 2.25 inch and 36 mm Festool adapters.[2]
- Onefinity Suckit SM: 67.60 mm (2.66 in) outside and 57.93 mm (2.28 in) inside; Onefinity also calls it a 2.5 inch port, which matches neither figure exactly.[1]
- PwnCNC PwnBoot: a 4 inch hose intake. Its contents list a 4 inch MagLock round adapter, a 4 inch to 2.5 inch reducer adapter and a 2.5 inch MagLock round adapter.[3]
- Genmitsu DS3018, DS52 and DS69: all with a 32 mm inner and 38 mm outer vacuum-port diameter.[4]
- KentCNC Standard split-shoe: about 10.5 x 6 inches with a 4 inch threaded hose connector.[5]
- KentCNC Mini split-shoe: about 8 x 4.75 inches with a 2-1/2 inch quick connector, which KentCNC says fits most shop vacs.[5]

Small-port shoes for shop-vac hoses: the Genmitsu DS69 (65-69 mm), DS52 (52 mm) and DS3018 (42 mm) have a 32 mm ID / 38 mm OD port; the FoxAlien 69 mm (52, 65 and 69 mm bodies) and 42 mm shoes list a 38 mm hose (inside or outside not stated).
More on choosing
Choose the shoe for your body diameter first, then a hose or reducer that matches the 38 mm port.

Hose size and big spindles
Carbide 3D does not recommend 35 mm vacuum hoses with its 80 mm VFD spindle, saying the spindle can produce a lot of chips and 35 mm hoses can clog.[6] It names no recommended size. That is one product's guidance; follow your own boot maker's port size and your collector maker's hose advice.
Brushes and brush rings
Brushes wear, so check how the boot's maker sells replacements before you buy. Each maker handles them differently:
- Sweepy 2.0 is clear polycarbonate, mounts with a machined quick-release clamp, and neodymium magnets hold its detachable lower half.[2]
- Suckit SM includes 30 mm and 50 mm long brush rings with pre-installed magnets, and its bottom section detaches for access to the bit and collet nut.[1]
- KentCNC describes a clear acrylic upper plate that clamps around the router or spindle, with a brush ring held by rare-earth magnets.[7] The Standard includes a 3 inch ring, with an optional 2 inch ring and 1/2 inch spacer rings; the Mini's brush is chosen as 2 or 3 inches at order.[5]
- PwnCNC sells brush by the linear inch. Its table lists 14 inches for V2, V3, V5 and V9 boots; for V7, V10 and PwnBoot, 17 or 22 inches on 65 mm (2.5 or 4 inch brush) and 19 or 23 inches on 80 mm.[8]
- Genmitsu DS52: the package list shows one bottom cover with a 20 mm nylon brush, while the product bullets say two covers with 20 mm and 40 mm brushes.[4] Ask the seller what is in the box before you count on a spare.

Questions
Will my 2.5 inch shop-vac hose fit a dust boot?
It fits some directly. Carbide 3D says Sweepy 2.0 takes a 2.5 inch shop-vac hose as standard, and KentCNC says its Mini's 2-1/2 inch connector fits most shop vacs. Other boots need a reducer, and port labels are nominal, so check the actual inside and outside diameters.[2][5]
What size hose should I use with an 80 mm spindle?
Carbide 3D does not recommend 35 mm hoses with its 80 mm VFD spindle because they can clog, but it names no recommended size. Follow your boot maker's port size.[6]
Where do I get replacement dust-boot brushes?
From the boot maker. PwnCNC sells brush by the inch and publishes lengths per boot and diameter; Onefinity ships the Suckit SM with 30 mm and 50 mm brush rings; KentCNC offers optional ring sizes.[8][1][5]
Is the Suckit SM port really 2.5 inches?
Onefinity calls it a 2.5 inch port, but lists it as 67.60 mm (2.66 in) outside and 57.93 mm (2.28 in) inside. Treat 2.5 inch as a nominal label.[1]
