Short answer
Pipe thread is a different thread from hose thread; ASME B1.20.1 covers general-purpose inch pipe threads, including tapered NPT. Drip parts that use it include Rain Bird's PRF07530SX (3/4 in MPT both ends), DIG's 24-029 (.700 in OD x 3/4 in FNPT), Rain Bird's XF adapters and Xeri-Bug XBT models (1/2 in FPT inlet). Raindrip says to match pipe thread to pipe thread. See FHT vs MHT vs FPT vs MPT.

Key facts
- How it grips
- Pipe screw threads; ASME B1.20.1 covers general-purpose inch pipe threads, including tapered NPT, NPSC, NPTR, NPSM and NPSL[1]
- Dimension that decides fit
- Thread size and gender: female pipe thread (FPT, also written FNPT) or male pipe thread (MPT or MNPT)[2][3]
- Ranges makers state
- DIG 24-029: .700 in OD x 3/4 in FNPT. Rain Bird PRF07530SX: 3/4 in MPT both ends. Senninger PRLG: 3/4 in female hose or NPT inlet. Rain Bird Xeri-Bug XBT-10 and XBT-20: 1/2 in FPT inlet. Rain Bird XF elbow and tee adapters: 1/2 in FPT inlet. DIG DSR kit: fits a 1/2 in MPT sprinkler riser[2][4][5][6][7][8]
- Maker pressure ratings
- Rain Bird PRF07530SX: regulates to 30 psi, with a '150 PSI pressure rating'. DIG DSR kit: up to 100 PSI. Senninger PRLG: 10-40 psi presets[4][8][5]Rain Bird does not call the 150 PSI figure an inlet maximum.
- Reuse and removal
- Not confirmedNo source in our register covers removing and reusing pipe-thread drip parts.
- Meets directly
- Pipe thread to pipe thread (Raindrip): an FPT part onto an MPT part of the same size[9]
- Common mistakes makers name
- Raindrip: mismatched or cross-threaded connections are the main cause of leaks[9]
- Not confirmed
- Not confirmedDIG's DSR regulator value is not published here because its page says 25 PSI in one place and 20 PSI in another. Rain Bird's PRF07530SX store page lists no flow range. No BSP comparison was checked.
Watch out for
- Pipe thread and hose thread do not mate directly; DIG's D49 and 50007 adapt between them.
- Rain Bird's Xeri-Bug comes with a 1/2 in FPT inlet only in 1.0 and 2.0 GPH (XBT-10, XBT-20).
- DIG's DSR kit page gives its regulator as 25 PSI in one place and 20 PSI in another.
- Rain Bird's PRF07530SX store page lists no flow range; its stainless claim is for the screen only.

3/4 in MPT regulating filter
Rain Bird PRF07530S 3/4 in MPT pressure-regulating filter (30 psi, 200 mesh)Choose the PRF07530S (3/4 in MPT both ends, 30 psi).
Rain Bird lists 3/4 in male pipe thread on both ends and a 200 mesh (75 micron) stainless screen.
Questions
Is FNPT the same as FPT?
Makers use both for female pipe thread: DIG writes FNPT on its 24-029 adapter, and Rain Bird writes FPT on its Xeri-Bug XBT inlets.[2][6]
What standard covers NPT?
ASME B1.20.1 covers general-purpose inch pipe threads, including tapered NPT. Hose threads are covered separately by ASME B1.20.7.[1][11]
How do I connect a pipe-thread part to a hose faucet?
DIG lists the 50007 swivel adapter (3/4 in FHT x 3/4 in MNPT) and the D49 nipple (MHT x MPT). See drip faucet head assembly.[10][3]
