Short answer
Four approved head parts cover the common starts. Rain Bird's HT07525PS is a hose-thread regulator, its PRF07530S a pipe-thread filter-regulator, Orbit's 67738 a 3-in-1 adapter for Drip-Lock tubing, and Rain Bird's FCKIT-1PK a complete faucet kit. Match the threads first, then confirm the mesh and outlet psi on the listing.
How we chose
A part is on this list only if:
- Its threads are stated, hose or pipe. Raindrip advises matching hose thread to hose thread and pipe thread to pipe thread, and says mismatched threads are the main cause of leaks.[1] Makers state them plainly when they do: DIG's D57A filter is 3/4 in FHT x 3/4 in MHT with a 155 mesh screen.[2]
- The filter mesh and the regulator's outlet pressure are stated. Rain Bird's 3/4 in RBY unit regulates to 30 psi for 0.20 to 5.0 GPM with a 200 mesh stainless screen.[3] DIG's D54 has a 150 mesh stainless screen and is preset to 25 psi.[4] Rain Bird's PRF07530SX is a 3/4 in male-pipe-thread filter-regulator rated at 30 psi with a 200 mesh screen.[5] Those models are references; none of their listings is approved.
- It is in our approved catalog with a store listing.
The products stage read each maker's thread, mesh and pressure figures for these four models, but our fact-check has not yet verified those model pages. The picks describe each part as it is sold. Confirm the figures on the listing, and do not read a neighboring model's specs onto it: PRF07530S is not PRF07530SX.
Hose-thread pressure regulator
Rain Bird HT07525PS 3/4 in FHT x MHT 25 psi pressure regulator
Pick it if: Hose-thread faucet stacks that already have a separate filter
- Why it's here
- Sold as a 3/4 in FHT x MHT, 25 psi regulator, so it threads straight onto a hose-thread faucet stack without adapters.
- Watch out
- A regulator only: no filter. We found no verified Rain Bird spec page for HT07525PS; confirm its flow range on the listing. On Amazon, check that 'Ships from / Sold by' shows Amazon.com or Rain Bird.
- Tubing inside and outside diameter
- Not stated
- Nominal size family (1/2 in, 3/4 in, 1/4 in, metric 4/7 mm, 16 mm)
- Not stated
- Fitting connection type (compression, barbed insert, spin-lock, hose thread, pipe thread)
- Not stated
- Compression insert size or color code as the maker states it
- Not stated
Pipe-thread filter-regulator
Rain Bird PRF07530S 3/4 in MPT pressure-regulating filter (30 psi, 200 mesh)
Pick it if: Emitters that ask for 200 mesh, on a stack built with pipe-thread adapters
- Why it's here
- Sold as a 3/4 in MPT pressure-regulating filter at 30 psi with a 200 mesh screen, combining two head parts in one body.
- Watch out
- Male pipe thread, so a hose faucet needs hose-to-pipe adapters on both sides. This is PRF07530S; do not read PRF07530SX or RBY specs onto it. Confirm flow range and mesh on the listing.
3-in-1 faucet adapter for Drip-Lock
Orbit 67738 3‑in‑1 faucet adapter (3/4 in FHT, 150 mesh filter, 20 psi regulator, 1/2 in Drip-Lock)
Pick it if: Simple faucet starts on Orbit Drip-Lock systems
- Why it's here
- Sold as a single unit with a 3/4 in FHT inlet, a 150 mesh filter, a 20 psi regulator and a 1/2 in Drip-Lock outlet.
- Watch out
- The outlet is a Drip-Lock push connection, not a thread, so it suits tubing sizes Orbit's Drip-Lock line lists. We found no verified Orbit spec page for 67738; confirm the outlet's tubing size on the listing. On Amazon, check that 'Ships from / Sold by' shows Amazon.com or Orbit.
- Tubing inside and outside diameter
- Outlet takes 17 mm or 0.700 in OD blank tubing
- Nominal size family (1/2 in, 3/4 in, 1/4 in, metric 4/7 mm, 16 mm)
- Not stated
- Fitting connection type (compression, barbed insert, spin-lock, hose thread, pipe thread)
- Not stated
- Compression insert size or color code as the maker states it
- Not stated
Values are the manufacturer's specs unless marked.
Complete faucet connection kit
Rain Bird FCKIT‑1PK faucet connection kit (backflow preventer, 25 psi regulator, 150 mesh filter, tubing adapter)
Pick it if: Starting a new hose-faucet system from one box
- Why it's here
- Sold as a faucet connection kit with a backflow preventer, a 25 psi regulator, a 150 mesh filter and a tubing adapter.
- Watch out
- We do not say its backflow device meets any code; ask your water utility what your faucet needs. Rain Bird's kit page does not state the thread gender of each part, so check them before adding other parts. On Amazon, check that 'Ships from / Sold by' shows Amazon.com or Rain Bird.
- Tubing inside and outside diameter
- Not stated
- Nominal size family (1/2 in, 3/4 in, 1/4 in, metric 4/7 mm, 16 mm)
- Adapter for 1/2 in or 5/8 in drip tubing
- Fitting connection type (compression, barbed insert, spin-lock, hose thread, pipe thread)
- Not stated
- Compression insert size or color code as the maker states it
- Not stated
Values are the manufacturer's specs unless marked.

Order on the faucet
Follow your kit maker's order. Mister Landscaper's order for its own system is backflow device, timer, pressure regulator, 150 mesh filter, then the poly faucet fitting, and it warns that a regulator before the timer can build up excessive pressure.[8] Other makers differ. The faucet head assembly guide and the backflow guide cover the rest, and the head assembly hub lists every page.
Questions
Does the kit's backflow preventer meet code?
We do not say any device meets code. The EPA says backflow programs vary by state and municipality; ask your water utility or local plumbing authority what your faucet needs.[6]
Can I screw a pipe-thread filter onto a hose faucet?
Not directly. Raindrip says to match hose thread to hose thread and pipe thread to pipe thread; use an adapter made for the pair. See the thread guide.[1]
In what order do these go on the faucet?
Your kit maker's order. Mister Landscaper's, for its own system, is backflow device, timer, regulator, 150 mesh filter, then the poly fitting. There is no universal order.[8]
