Ender-3 V3 SE upgrades: the 260 °C limit, FlowTech and nozzles

What the stock Ender-3 V3 SE has, why a 300 °C hotend still stops at 260 °C on stock firmware, and which Creality kits do not list the SE.

Short answer

The stock Ender-3 V3 SE already has a direct extruder and a 0.4 mm brass nozzle, and Creality lists a 260 °C nozzle maximum. A hotend rated higher, such as Micro Swiss's 300 °C FlowTech for the V3 SE, still stops at 260 °C on stock firmware. Buy it for easier nozzle changes, not for hotter printing.

What the stock V3 SE already has

Creality's V3 SE support page lists a brass 0.4 mm nozzle, a 260 °C maximum nozzle temperature, a direct extruder and an i3 gantry motion system.[1] The same table lists PLA, TPU95A and PETG as supported filaments.

So the V3 SE does not need a direct drive conversion. The usual upgrade questions are the hotend, the nozzle and the temperature ceiling. The Ender-3 V3 SE page holds the full spec record.

The 260 °C ceiling

Micro Swiss rates its FlowTech hotend for the Ender-3 V3 SE at 300 °C, and notes that V3 SE firmware limits the nozzle to 260 °C.[2] Micro Swiss also says the hotend needs no firmware adjustments to fit. Put together, fitting it does not raise the temperature you can set on stock firmware.

That 300 °C rating also assumes a properly tuned NTC thermistor, by Micro Swiss's own note.[2] We found no Creality statement on raising the V3 SE limit, and we do not give firmware-modification steps.

FlowTech nozzle changes

Micro Swiss says FlowTech nozzles need no hot tightening and can be changed with one hand.[2] The included nozzle is a brass-plated 0.4 mm FlowTech nozzle, and hardened options are sold separately. That makes the FlowTech mainly a convenience upgrade on this printer.

Only for the Creality Ender-3 V3 SE: choose the FlowTech hotend for Ender 3 V3 SE, 0.4 mm (M3105).

More on choosing

It is a different printer from the Ender-3 V3, V3 KE and V3 Plus. On Amazon, check that 'Ships from / Sold by' shows Amazon.com or Micro Swiss.

Creality's Unicorn kit does not list the SE

Creality's Unicorn quick-swap nozzle kit is listed for the K1C, Ender-3 V3 and Ender-3 V3 Plus.[3] The Ender-3 V3 named there is not the V3 SE or the V3 KE. Creality's listing does not establish SE fit, so do not order it for a V3 SE on the strength of the "Ender-3 V3" name.

Firmware version

On 2026-10-08, Creality's V3 SE support page listed firmware V1.1.0, dated May 11, 2025, as the current download.[1] Recheck that page before updating, since versions change.

The stock alternative

If you print PLA, PETG or TPU within the stock limits, the stock hotend may be all you need. Check the basics before buying parts: a clean nozzle, a calibrated extruder, and flow tuned per filament. The flow calibration guide gives the order.

Questions

Will a 300 °C hotend let my Ender-3 V3 SE print hotter?

Not on stock firmware. Micro Swiss rates its FlowTech hotend for the V3 SE at 300 °C but notes that the V3 SE firmware limits the nozzle to 260 °C.[2]

Does Creality's Unicorn nozzle kit fit the Ender-3 V3 SE?

Creality does not list it. The Unicorn quick-swap kit is listed for the K1C, Ender-3 V3 and Ender-3 V3 Plus; the Ender-3 V3 is a different printer from the V3 SE.[3]

What firmware is current for the Ender-3 V3 SE?

On 2026-10-08 Creality's V3 SE support page listed firmware V1.1.0, dated May 11, 2025, as the current download. Check the page again before you update, because it changes.[1]

Do FlowTech nozzles need hot tightening?

Micro Swiss says FlowTech nozzles need no hot tightening and can be changed with one hand.[2]
