Bondtech LGX and LGX Lite: filament size and E-steps

Bondtech's LGX takes 1.75 mm filament only. The original LGX Lite's 562 E-steps and Klipper gearing, and why they do not carry over to the LGX Lite V2.

Also listed as LGX Lite

Short answer

Bondtech says the LGX supports 1.75 mm filament only. The original LGX Lite lists 562 E-steps at 16 microsteps and a Klipper gear_ratio example of 44:10, 37:17; Bondtech has replaced it with the LGX Lite V2, so do not carry those values over. Bondtech's LGX page gives no gear ratio.

Key facts

Where the maker sells
Bondtech lists authorized resellers in the US and Canada and ships worldwide directly from Sweden[3]Bondtech's page names no Amazon or AliExpress store. Reseller lists change.

Not confirmedBondtech's LGX page gives no gear ratio, and we did not read the V2 page.

Watch out for

  • The LGX takes 1.75 mm filament only, per Bondtech.
  • The 562 E-steps and 44:10, 37:17 gearing are for the original LGX Lite. Bondtech replaced it with the LGX Lite V2; do not copy the values across.
  • The 293 g figure on Bondtech's LGX page is freight weight, not the extruder's own weight.
  • Annex Engineering calls the BMG and LGX comparable in force, but its figures are calculated, not measured.

Questions

Does the Bondtech LGX take 2.85 mm filament?

No. Bondtech states that the LGX supports only 1.75 mm filament.[1]

What E-steps does the LGX Lite use?

Bondtech lists 562 E-steps at 16 microsteps for the original LGX Lite, which it has replaced with the LGX Lite V2. Those values do not carry over to the V2.[2]

Is the LGX stronger than the BMG?

We cite no measured head-to-head of the two. Annex Engineering calls them comparable in force, but its figures are calculated from motor torque curves and estimated gear radii, not measured, so we do not rank them by it.[4]
