Short answer
Before you order a printer part online, confirm that the part maker names your exact printer model, that the seller is the brand or a reseller the brand lists, and what returns and duties apply. Some brands rule marketplaces out entirely: Capricorn says it does not sell on AliExpress or Alibaba, so tubing bought there is almost certainly not genuine.[1]

1. Confirm the exact model the maker names
Start with fit, not the listing. A marketplace title that says "for Ender 3" or "for Neptune 4" does not tell you which version. Makers list parts per model and revision: ELEGOO's Neptune 4 nozzle kits, for example, fit only the Type-C versions of the Neptune 4 and 4 Pro.[2] The printer identification guide shows where to find your model and revision, and the upgrade path finder shows what makers list for it.
2. Is the seller the brand, or a reseller the brand lists?
Check the brand's own page for its sales channels, then compare the seller name on the listing.
| Brand | What its own page says |
|---|---|
| Capricorn | Does not sell on AliExpress or Alibaba, nor do its authorized resellers.[1] It tells Amazon and eBay buyers to check the seller, and says it stopped accepting new Amazon sellers in April 2019.[1] |
| ELEGOO | Buy from ELEGOO official stores or listed resellers; for the US and Canada it points to its own us.elegoo.com and ca.elegoo.com stores. It names no Amazon or AliExpress store.[3] |
| Bondtech | Lists authorized resellers in the US and Canada and also ships directly from Sweden.[4] It names no Amazon or AliExpress store. |
| Micro Swiss | All direct orders ship from Minnesota, and it has resellers worldwide.[5] |
| Creality | Counts official stores on third-party platforms such as Amazon, eBay and Temu among its official channels,[6] but does not say which storefronts those are, and does not name AliExpress. Verify each seller. |
A seller name like "Official Store" on a marketplace proves nothing by itself. If the brand's own page does not name the seller, treat the seller as unconfirmed. We could not read Phaetus's or E3D's reseller lists on 2026-10-08, so we cannot say whether any marketplace store for those brands is authorized.
3. Clones and "high-flow" lookalikes
Copies exist, and the evidence on them is narrow. Bondtech says its BMG primary drive gear is heat-treated and nickel-coated, and reports that one clone it examined had gears that were not hardened.[7] That is one unit, written by an interested party.
CNC Kitchen's 2022 teardown of a low-cost AliExpress high-flow nozzle found a standard nozzle with an enlarged bore and a loose copper insert. In its 0.4 mm PLA test at 215 °C, that single nozzle out-flowed both a genuine Bondtech CHT and an E3D V6.[8] The author also notes others reported mixed results and rough machining, so one good unit says nothing about the next one. In another case study, CNC Kitchen traced uneven layers on one printer to an extruder gear whose bore was off-center.[9] It suggests checking gears only after ruling out other causes.
4. Electrical parts: look for the mark on the product
Power supplies, heated beds and anything that plugs into the wall carry fire and shock risk. Health Canada advises not to buy plug-in electrical products unless they carry a Canadian electrical certification mark such as CSA, cUL or cETL.[10] It says the mark must appear on the product itself, not just the packaging, and to ask the seller when a listing does not show it.[10] Its warning signs of counterfeit electrical products include poor quality, unusually low prices and spelling or grammar errors.[11] None of these proves a fake on its own.
5. Returns
- Amazon. Amazon says most items can be returned within 30 days of delivery in original or unused condition, and items shipped by third-party sellers go back to the seller, not to Amazon.[12] Many categories have exceptions, so check the item's own policy.
- AliExpress. Free Return applies only to products showing a Free Return label, and the request must be made within 15 calendar days of receipt, with the item unused and undamaged.[13] Without the label, the seller's own terms apply.
On Amazon, check the "Ships from / Sold by" line on the listing before you buy. It tells you whether Amazon.com, the brand or a third-party seller is selling the part, which decides both authenticity and who handles a return.
6. Duties and fees
- United States. CBP announced that goods from all countries lost eligibility for the de minimis duty-free exemption from 12:01 a.m. on August 29, 2025.[14] Its e-commerce FAQ says the suspension covers merchandise valued at $800 or less arriving by all modes, including international mail, and that all applicable duties, taxes and fees must be paid.[15] We do not quote a rate.
- Canada. CBSA says some courier shipments qualify for duty or tax relief at values of CAD $20, $40 or $150 depending on conditions, and that courier clearance fees are separate from duties and taxes.[16] CBSA's page does not say which threshold applies to which origin, so check with the carrier before you count on relief.
What we could not confirm
- Phaetus's and E3D's authorized-reseller lists could not be read on 2026-10-08. We call no Phaetus or E3D marketplace store authorized.
- Brand pages describe channels, not individual listings. A seller can change after a brand page was written, so recheck before a large order.

Questions
Is a Capricorn tube on AliExpress genuine?
Almost certainly not. Capricorn says it does not sell on AliExpress or Alibaba and neither do its authorized resellers, so tubing bought there is almost certainly not genuine.[1]
Will I pay duty on parts shipped to the US?
Expect to. CBP says goods from all countries lost the de minimis duty-free exemption from August 29, 2025, and its e-commerce FAQ says all applicable duties, taxes and fees must be paid on shipments of $800 or less, including by mail. We do not quote a rate.[14][15]
Can I return an AliExpress part?
Free Return applies only to items showing the Free Return label, and AliExpress's terms require the request within 15 calendar days of receipt, with the item unused and undamaged. Without the label, the seller's own terms apply.[13]
How do I know a seller is authorized?
Check the brand's own reseller or store page, not the listing title. ELEGOO tells buyers to use its official stores or listed resellers and names no Amazon or AliExpress store; Bondtech lists authorized US and Canadian resellers. If the brand's page does not name the seller, treat it as unconfirmed.[3][4]
Do I need a certification mark on a printer power part in Canada?
Health Canada advises not to buy plug-in electrical products without a Canadian certification mark such as CSA, cUL or cETL, and says the mark must be on the product itself, not only the packaging.[10]
