Short answer
Pick the bag for the place your bike has room. Behind the stem, a strapped top-tube bag needs no bolts: the Topeak Fuel Tank, Topeak Tri DryBag or ROCKBROS 039BK. Behind the saddle, the Topeak BackLoader 10 L needs seatpost and tire clearance. On the bars, the Rhinowalk RK9300 harness needs room around your cables and light.
How we chose
A bag is on this list only if:
- Its maker says how it attaches. Attachment decides fit more than size does. Apidura's Expedition Bolt-On Top Tube Pack, for example, attaches with two bolts to top-tube bosses plus a strap around the steerer, and Apidura sends bikes without top-tube bolts to its strapped version.[1] The three top-tube bags here are strap-on designs; confirm the strap fit on the maker's page.
- Its maker states a size, and you check it against your bike. Apidura says frame pack size should be chosen by the dimensions of the frame, not by how much you want to carry.[2] Its sizing guidance asks riders to include water bottles and frame-mounted accessories when they measure.[3]
- Water claims stay the maker's, with conditions. ORTLIEB, for example, rates its Back-Roller IP64 only with the closure rolled down three to four times and secured.[4] A bag's water rating means what its maker's condition says, no more.
We have not yet verified these five makers' own figures against their pages, so each pick tells you what to check. No frame bag or pannier was approved for this site on 2026-10-14.
Strapped top-tube bag
Topeak Fuel Tank top-tube bag, Large (0.75 L)
Pick it if: Commuters and road riders without top-tube bolts
- Why it's here
- A top-tube bag that straps on behind the stem, so it needs no frame bolts. It suits phones, keys and snacks within reach.
- Watch out
- We have not yet verified Topeak's size and strap figures, so check the top-tube and head-tube diameters Topeak lists against your bike, and the length of top tube behind your stem. On Amazon, check that 'Ships from / Sold by' shows Amazon.com or Topeak.

Smaller strapped top-tube bag
Topeak Tri DryBag top-tube bag, Medium (0.6 L)
Pick it if: Road and gravel riders with a short top tube behind the stem
- Why it's here
- A second strapped top-tube option from Topeak, in the Medium size, for riders who want a smaller bag behind the stem.
- Watch out
- We have not yet verified Topeak's figures for it. Any water claim on its page is Topeak's own, not a rating we can confirm. On Amazon, check that 'Ships from / Sold by' shows Amazon.com or Topeak.

Top-tube bag from a second brand
ROCKBROS top-tube bike bag 039BK (1 L)
Pick it if: Commuters who want a basic top-tube bag
- Why it's here
- A strapped top-tube bag from ROCKBROS, model 039BK, as an alternative brand for the same place on the bike.
- Watch out
- We have not yet verified ROCKBROS's figures, and we could not verify a current ROCKBROS marketplace store. Choose STYLE 1 for the 039BK. On Amazon, check that 'Ships from / Sold by' shows Amazon.com or ROCKBROS.

Seatpost bag
Topeak BackLoader 10 L seatpost bikepacking bag, black
Pick it if: Road and gravel riders carrying more than pockets hold
- Why it's here
- A seatpost bag in the 10 L size, in black, for carrying gear behind the saddle on bikes without a rack.
- Watch out
- We have not yet verified Topeak's figures. A seatpost bag needs exposed seatpost and room above the rear tire, and dropper-post fit is not stated. Check Topeak's stated maximum load. On Amazon, check that 'Ships from / Sold by' shows Amazon.com or Topeak.

Seatpost bag with a holster, larger size
Topeak BackLoader X seatpost bikepacking bag, 15 L, green
Pick it if: Bikepackers with plenty of seatpost and tire clearance
- Why it's here
- Topeak lists the BackLoader X as a semi-rigid holster on the seatpost and saddle rails that holds a removable bag, with a 5 kg maximum load; the 15 L is 51 x 24 x 22 cm.
- Watch out
- It is the 15 L in green, larger than the 10 L above, and Topeak says it needs more than 23 cm and 13 cm of clearance (its L1 and L2). Dropper-post fit is not stated, and the waterproof figure is Topeak's claim. On Amazon, check that 'Ships from / Sold by' shows Amazon.com or Topeak.

Handlebar harness with dry bag
Rhinowalk RK9300 handlebar harness with 12 L dry bag
Pick it if: Gravel riders and commuters with room on the bars
- Why it's here
- A handlebar harness with a roll-top dry bag, for carrying soft items at the front of the bike.
- Watch out
- We have not yet verified Rhinowalk's figures, and no maker source we have states handlebar-bag clearance. Check room for your hands, cables, light and mount. The RK9301 is the harness alone. On Amazon, check that 'Ships from / Sold by' shows Amazon.com or Rhinowalk.

Handlebar harness with dry bag, from Rhinowalk's own store
Rhinowalk handlebar harness with 12 L dry bag (RK9300 set, Rhinowalk's Amazon store)
Pick it if: Gravel riders and commuters with room on the bars
- Why it's here
- The same Rhinowalk harness-and-dry-bag set, on the Amazon listing Rhinowalk's own store sells. Rhinowalk lists the RK9300 set with a 30 x 27.5 cm harness, three bar straps and a roll-top dry bag of up to about 12 L.
- Watch out
- The listing shows no model number, so choose the harness with the dry bag, not 'Base' (the harness alone) or 'Drawstring'. No maker source we have states handlebar-bag clearance. On Amazon, check that 'Ships from / Sold by' shows Amazon.com or Rhinowalk.

What to check before you order
- Top-tube bags: the length of top tube behind your stem, and the strap diameters the maker lists.
- Seatpost bags: exposed seatpost and room above the rear tire. Restrap, for example, states no load, clearance or dropper-post compatibility for its 18-liter Saddle Bag,[5] so those stay unknowns to check on your own bike.
- Handlebar bags: we found no maker source that states bar-bag clearance in numbers. Check the space for your hands, cables, light and mount.
- Panniers, if you add a rack later: ORTLIEB's QL2.1 hooks come with inserts for 8, 10 and 12 mm rack tubes.[6] See pannier hooks and rack tube sizes.

Questions
Why is there no frame bag or pannier here?
None was approved for this site on 2026-10-14. For panniers, ORTLIEB's QL2.1 hooks take 8, 10 and 12 mm rack tubes with inserts; for frame bags, Apidura says to size by the frame, not by liters.[6][2]
Do I need top-tube bolts for a top-tube bag?
Not for a strapped one. Bolt-on bags need bosses: Apidura's Expedition Bolt-On Top Tube Pack uses two bolts plus a steerer strap, and Apidura sends bikes without bolts to its strapped version.[1]
Will a seatpost bag fit my bike?
Check the exposed seatpost and the room above your rear tire. Restrap, for example, states no clearance or dropper-post compatibility for its 18-liter Saddle Bag, so measure your own bike.[5]
