Short answer
T18 is Hakko's tip range for the FX-8801 iron used on the FX-888D and FX-888DX stations, listed in about 29 shapes across groups B, C, D, I, J and K. The FX-888D is discontinued; American Hakko sells the FX-888DX as a 100 W, 120 VAC station with a 65 W iron and the T18-D16 as its standard US tip. Hakko warns that counterfeits circulate online, so buy from authorized dealers.

Watch out for
- The FX-888D is discontinued. Hakko's global site labels it discontinued, and the current FX-888DX keeps T18 tips on its standard FX-8801 iron. Tom's Hardware's 2026 list still picks the FX-888D, so check which model a listing actually sells.
- T18 does not fit every FX-888DX iron. The optional FX-8805 large iron uses T19 tips, and the FX-8806 high-power iron, made only for the FX-888DX, uses T32 tips.
- Quote the spec table. American Hakko's feature banner says 50-450°C, but its spec table lists 50-480°C (120-899°F) for the FX-888DX.

120 V station (FX-888DX)
Hakko FX‑888DX soldering station (120 V, blue/yellow)Choose the FX888DX-010BY (120 V, blue and yellow). On Amazon, buy only when 'Sold by' is Amazon.com, American Hakko or a distributor on Hakko's US store locator; American Hakko says sellers outside the US and Canada are most likely not selling North American product.
The specs are American Hakko's: 100 W at 120 VAC and a 65 W FX-8801 iron with T18 tips. We found no NRTL safety mark on Hakko's page. T18 tips are not listed: the Amazon tip listings we checked had no seller we could tie to Hakko's North American channel.
Who it suits: readers who want an established branded station with a long tip range and a US 120 V model, for Arduino and starter kits and general through-hole work. If you prefer a heater-in-tip design, compare the cartridge systems such as T12 and C245.
Buying: we list the FX-888DX station with a seller check, but not T18 tips: the Amazon tip listings we checked had no seller we could tie to Hakko's North American channel. Buy tips from Hakko or a distributor on its US store locator, and treat unusually cheap "Hakko" stations or tips with suspicion.
