Short answer

E3D rates its V6 nozzles by material: 300 °C for brass and ObXidian, 350 °C for hardened steel and 500 °C for stainless steel, plated copper and Nozzle X; only hardened steel, Nozzle X and ObXidian are abrasion resistant. E3D says to hot-tighten brass nozzles at 285 °C to about 2 Nm. V6 nozzles use an M6 thread.

Max temperature
By nozzle: 300 °C brass and ObXidian; 350 °C hardened steel; 500 °C stainless steel, plated copper and Nozzle X[2]These are nozzle ratings. The whole hotend's limit is set by its heater, sensor, heatbreak and firmware.
Nozzle standard
E3D V6 nozzle, M6 thread[1]E3D says V6 nozzles are designed for the E3D V6 heater block.
Nozzle change
Hot-tighten: brass at 285 °C to about 2 Nm; other E3D materials at 20 °C above your printing temperature[2]E3D says to wait about a minute at temperature and use a 7 mm spanner, and suggests a 2 Nm torque wrench. The 20 °C rule covers plated copper, hardened steel, Nozzle X and ObXidian.

Printers the maker names
E3D's V6 brass nozzle page names the Prusa MK3, MK2 and Mini[1][3]Prusa also groups the MK3/S/+, MK3.5/S and MINI/+ as V6-type nozzle printers.

Outside measurement
CNC Kitchen, 2021, E3D Hemera with 0.6 mm nozzles: standard V6 about 15 mm³/s at roughly 5% under-extrusion (Volcano about 30, Bondtech CHT about 40)[4][5]One setup, PLA, setpoint not reported. In CNC Kitchen's 2020 MK3S test (V6 with Bondtech gears, PLA at 215 °C), under-extrusion reached about 3% at 9 mm³/s before skipping at 15 mm³/s.

Watch out for

  • E3D marks its brass, stainless steel and plated copper V6 nozzles as not abrasion resistant. For abrasive filament, E3D's abrasion-resistant options are hardened steel, Nozzle X and ObXidian.
  • A nozzle's temperature rating is not the hotend's: the heater, sensor, heatbreak and firmware set the real limit.
  • In CNC Kitchen's 2020 test, E3D's hardened steel nozzle extruded noticeably less than brass only below 200 °C. That is one setup, not a rule that steel needs a higher temperature.
  • Revo nozzles do not fit V6 heater blocks, per E3D.

What fits

Product details below are the seller's own description unless a source is shown. Pick the variant named for each item.

  • 0.4

    Brass V6 nozzle

    E3D V6 brass nozzle, 1.75 mm x 0.40 mm (V6‑NOZZLE‑175‑400)

    Choose the 1.75 mm x 0.40 mm brass V6 nozzle (V6-NOZZLE-175-400).

E3D designs it for the V6 heater block and rates its brass V6 nozzles to 300 °C, for non-abrasive filaments.

  • 0.4

    Wear-resistant V6 nozzle

    Micro Swiss CM2 RepRap (V6) 1.75 mm nozzle (M2902)

Choose the 0.4 mm CM2 RepRap nozzle (M2902-04) for 1.75 mm filament.

Micro Swiss lists it for E3D V4/V5/V6 1.75 mm hotends: an M6x1.0 thread and an M2 hardened-steel tip.

  • 0.4

    Hardened steel V6 nozzle

Micro Swiss M2 hardened high speed steel RepRap (V6) 1.75 mm nozzle, 0.4 mm (M2600‑04)

Choose the 0.4 mm M2 RepRap nozzle (M2600-04) for 1.75 mm filament.

Micro Swiss lists it for E3D V4/V5/V6 1.75 mm hotends: M2 steel hardened to 68 HRC, an M6x1.0 thread, rated to 450 °C.

Questions

How tight should an E3D V6 nozzle be?

E3D says to hot-tighten brass V6 nozzles at 285 °C to about 2 Nm, and its other nozzle materials at 20 °C above your printing temperature. See nozzle torque by maker.[2]

Which E3D V6 nozzles handle carbon fiber?

E3D marks its hardened steel, Nozzle X and ObXidian V6 nozzles as abrasion resistant, and its brass, stainless steel and plated copper nozzles as not.[2]

How much flow does a standard V6 manage?

In CNC Kitchen's 2021 test on an E3D Hemera with 0.6 mm nozzles, a standard V6 reached about 15 mm³/s at roughly 5% under-extrusion. That is one setup, not a rated limit.[4]
