Short answer
Five approved 1/2 in fittings have a tubing range stated by their maker. For tubing anywhere from .620 to .710 in OD, choose Orbit's 67466 coupling or Raindrip's Smart Loc S5600UB coupling and S5500UB tee. For tubing between 0.63 and 0.70 in OD, Rain Bird's Easy-Fit coupling and tee are compression fittings rated 0 to 60 psi.

- The maker states an OD or ID range. A nominal "1/2 in" says nothing about fit. DIG's compression inserts show how narrow the bands are: green for .620 to .630 in OD,[1] blue for .710 in OD.[1] DIG's NUTLOC is listed for .530, .600 or .620 in ID tubing, described as .630 to .710 in OD.[2] Orbit's 67491 Drip-Lock coupling is listed for .690, .700 and .710 in OD.[3]
- The connection type is stated. Compression, barb with nut, or push-on.
- It is in our approved catalog with a store listing.

A range is the maker's statement
A stated range tells you what the fitting is made for, not that every tubing in the range will seal. If your tubing sits at the edge of a range, a fitting made for that exact OD is the safer choice. Can I reuse these fittings?
Orbit says you loosen the 67466 nut to remove the tubing. Smart Loc secures tubing with a twist-on nut.[4][5]
