Join .700 drip tubing to .620 or .710 tubing
Two ways to join different 1/2 in drip tubing sizes: a reducing coupling made for the exact pair, or a locking coupling whose maker lists both sizes.

Short answer
Use either a reducing coupling made for the exact pair (DIG's D50G joins .700 to .620 in OD, its D50B joins .700 to .710 in OD) or a locking coupling whose maker lists both of your sizes. Identify both tubing ODs before you buy either.
Step 1: identify both ends
You need the OD of each tube, not the "1/2 in" on the bag. Read the print or the kit papers, or measure a fresh cut end with calipers; our measuring guide walks through it. Brands do not settle it: Rain Bird T70 and DIG's 1/2 in tubing are both listed at .700 in OD,[1][2] while Raindrip's 062010P is .620 x .710 in.[3]
Option 1: a reducer made for the pair
DIG makes two compression reducing couplings:
- D50G joins .700 in OD tubing to .620 in OD tubing.[4]
- D50B joins .700 in OD tubing to .710 in OD tubing.[4]
Each is listed for one exact pair. Neither is listed for joining .620 to .710 directly.
Option 2: a coupling listed for a range
These couplings state a range or a set of sizes. A joint is inside the maker's listing only when both of your tubes are.
- Raindrip Smart Loc S5600UB: listed for .520 x .620, .600 x .700 and .620 x .710 in tubing.[5]
- Orbit 67466: listed for .620-.710 in OD, with a nut you loosen to remove the tube.[6]
- DIG NUTLOC: listed for .530, .600 or .620 in ID, described as .630-.710 in OD.[7] Note that DIG's stated OD range starts at .630 in.
- Orbit 67491 Drip-Lock: a push-on coupling listed for .690, .700 and .710 in OD.[8] It is not listed for .620 in tubing.
- Rain Bird Easy-Fit: listed for 0.63-0.70 in OD.[9] It covers a .620-.630 to .700 join only where your small tube is at least 0.63 in, and it does not cover .710 in.
The makers list the sizes each coupling takes; none of these pages describes a mixed-size joint in so many words. If you are unsure, ask the maker before burying the joint.
Picks that fit2 products
Choose Smart Loc S5600UB if both tubes match its listed pairs (.520 x .620, .600 x .700, .620 x .710 in), or Orbit 67466 if both ODs fall within .620-.710 in. One coupling per joint.
Choose the Raindrip Smart Loc S5600UB when you know your ID x OD pair
Raindrip Smart Loc S5600UB universal coupling (0.620, 0.700 and 0.710 in OD)
Choose the Orbit 67466 for the widest stated OD range
Orbit 67466 1/2 in universal drip coupling (0.620‑0.710 in OD)

Ends of mixed-size lines
If your system mixes sizes, a cap listed for a range saves stocking two. Orbit lists its 67468 end cap for .620-.710 in OD tubing.[11] Our end closures guide covers the other options.

Questions
How do I connect two different sizes of drip tubing?
Identify both ODs first. Then use a reducing coupling made for that exact pair, such as DIG's D50G (.700 to .620 in OD) or D50B (.700 to .710 in OD), or a coupling whose maker lists both sizes.[4]
Is there a coupling that fits both .620 and .710 tubing?
Several makers list a range that includes both. Orbit lists its 67466 coupling for .620-.710 in OD, and Raindrip lists its Smart Loc S5600UB for .520 x .620, .600 x .700 and .620 x .710 in tubing.[6][5]
Do I need a reducer between Rain Bird and DIG tubing?
It depends on the ODs, not the brands. Rain Bird T70 and DIG's 1/2 in tubing are both listed at .700 in OD, while Rain Bird T63 and T71 are 0.63 and 0.71 in OD.[1][2]
Can I use a Rain Bird Easy-Fit coupling to join .700 and .710 tubing?
Rain Bird lists Easy-Fit for 0.63-0.70 in OD tubing, so the .710 end is outside the stated range.[9]
