10-32 thread on drip emitters, jets and risers

Some emitters and jets screw on with a 10-32 thread: Rain Bird Xeri-Bug -1032 models, DIG's bare jet heads and Rain Bird's PFR-12 riser.

Also listed as 10/32, 10-32 riser thread

Short answer

10-32 is a small screw thread on some emission devices. Rain Bird sells Xeri-Bug emitters with a 10-32 inlet (the -1032 models) and a PFR-12 PolyFlex riser for 10-32 threaded devices at 15-50 psi. DIG sells its adjustable jets as bare 10/32 heads (300B, 308B, 309B) or as assemblies with a stake, riser and 1/4 in barb. See micro-sprays, jets and bubblers.

Key facts

How it grips
A threaded device screws onto a 10-32 riser or stake: Rain Bird's PFR-12 riser takes 10-32 threaded emission devices[1]
Dimension that decides fit
The thread on the device and the riser: 10-32 (Rain Bird), written 10/32 by DIG[2][3]
Ranges makers state
Rain Bird Xeri-Bug -1032 models (10-32 inlet, barb outlet). DIG 300B, 308B and 309B: bare 10/32 jet heads (2-pack). DIG 300-1B, 308-1B and 309-1B: assemblies with a 13 in stake, 12 in riser and 1/4 in barb[2][3]
Maker pressure ratings
Rain Bird PFR-12 riser: 15-50 psi. Rain Bird Xeri-Bug: 15-50 psi. DIG adjustable jets: 15-30 PSI[1][2][3]
Reuse and removal
Not confirmedNo source in our register covers unscrewing and reusing 10-32 devices.
Meets directly
Rain Bird's PFR-12 PolyFlex riser works with 10-32 threaded emission devices and can be used with the RS-025T riser stake[1]
Needs an adapter to meet
1/4 in tubing: DIG's -1B jet assemblies end in a 1/4 in barb; Rain Bird's Xeri-Bug also comes with a barb inlet (XB-05PC, XB-10PC, XB-20PC) instead of 10-32[3][2]
Common mistakes makers name
Ordering a bare head when you need the whole assembly: DIG's 'B' models are 10/32 heads only, while its '-1B' models include the stake, riser and 1/4 in barb[3]
Not confirmed
Not confirmedNo source gives 10-32 thread dimensions or confirms that Rain Bird and DIG 10-32 parts interchange.

Watch out for

  • DIG's 300B, 308B and 309B are bare 10/32 heads; the stake, riser and 1/4 in barb come only with the -1B assemblies.
  • Xeri-Bug comes in three inlet types: barb, 10-32 thread (-1032) and 1/2 in FPT (XBT-10, XBT-20). Pick the inlet before the flow.
  • DIG rates its jets 15-30 PSI, a narrower range than Rain Bird's 15-50 psi riser.
  • CSU Extension advises putting micro-sprays on a separate zone because they use much more water than drippers.

Questions

What is a 10-32 thread on a drip emitter?

A small screw thread some devices use instead of a barb. Rain Bird sells Xeri-Bug emitters with a 10-32 inlet and the PFR-12 riser for 10-32 threaded devices.[2][1]

Do DIG jet heads come with a riser?

Only the -1B assemblies (300-1B, 308-1B, 309-1B), which include a 13 in stake, 12 in riser and 1/4 in barb. The 300B, 308B and 309B are bare 10/32 heads.[3]

Can 10-32 sprays share a line with drippers?

CSU Extension advises a separate zone for micro-sprays because they use much more water, and Raindrip says never to mix drippers and sprinklers on the same line.[4][5]
