Buying cable attachments on Amazon or AliExpress: what to check

A checklist for cable attachments on Amazon or AliExpress: maker and variant, who sells it, marketing claims, returns, and US and Canada import costs.

Short answer

Before you buy a cable attachment on Amazon or AliExpress, confirm the maker and the exact variant, check who ships and sells it, treat marketing words as claims rather than specs, and know the return and import terms. Few brands say which marketplace stores they authorize. MIKOLO does: it names its own sites and authorized platforms such as Amazon and Walmart, and flags an AliExpress listing as fake.[1]

Picks that fitAll picks and how to choose

1. Confirm the maker and the exact variant

Many attachments come in several sizes under one listing. Name the variant before you add it to your cart: plate bore, pin diameter, length, single or pair. Makers' own pages can disagree with themselves too. Spud's 1-inch strap loading pin lists 11-inch and 17-inch strap options, while the description on the same page says 12 and 18 inches.[2] When that happens, confirm with the maker before ordering.

2. Is the seller the brand?

A store name on a marketplace does not prove the brand stands behind it.

  • MIKOLO says its official sites are gym-mikolo.com and www.gym-mikolo.com and that it sells through authorized platforms "such as Amazon and Walmart".[1] It also says it has not authorized any other distributors or resellers, and lists an AliExpress listing among the sites it flags.[1] We treat any MIKOLO offer on AliExpress as unauthorized unless MIKOLO says otherwise.
  • SYL Fitness's About page describes the company and gives a support address, but does not mention AliExpress or Amazon or authenticate any marketplace store.[3]
  • A brand's listing is not proof of the seller. The Yes4All Amazon listing describes a four-piece set,[4] but a listing alone does not show that the current seller is authorized.

3. Check "Ships from / Sold by"

On Amazon, read the "Ships from" and "Sold by" lines on the listing before you buy. You want Amazon.com or the brand itself. Every Amazon pick on this site asks you to check this, because the seller can change after we look.

4. Marketing words are not specs

  • "Fits all racks." Bullet Pulley's homepage markets "aircraft-grade aluminum pulleys" without stating a rated load.[5] A "fits all" line is not a fit list; use the maker's named racks and sizes instead.
  • A bundle-wide load figure. The Yes4All listing claims 880 lb for the set without saying which component or test conditions it covers.[4] See what a cable attachment load rating covers.

5. Signs of a counterfeit

Health Canada lists an unusually low price, spelling or grammar errors and poor quality as possible signs of counterfeit electrical products.[6] Cable attachments are not electrical, but the same signs are worth noticing on any listing. Check the brand's own site for the product, its variants and its stated rating, and compare.

6. Returns

AliExpress's Free Returns terms apply only to products marked with a Free Returns icon, and the free return shipping benefit can be used once per order.[7] The return window depends on the seller's location; for mainland China sellers it is 90 calendar days from the order, and returned items must be complete and undamaged.[7] The order page governs, so check it for each order. We could not confirm Amazon's rules for seller-fulfilled returns, so read the return terms on the listing itself.

7. Import costs (time-sensitive)

Import rules changed in 2025 and 2026, and may change again. We last checked them on 2026-10-10; recheck before you order.

United States.

  • CBP stopped accepting duty-free de minimis entry for low-value shipments from all countries as of August 29, 2025.[8]
  • On June 24, 2026, CBP indefinitely suspended the de minimis exemption for shipments arriving by any route other than the international postal network, effective the same day.[9]
  • A companion rule indefinitely suspends it for mail and creates a new postal informal entry process, effective July 24, 2026.[10]

Canada.

  • The CBSA says imported goods may owe duty plus GST, PST or HST.[11]
  • For mail, an item worth CAN$20 or less owes no duty or tax, and an imported gift worth CAN$60 or less is exempt, with exclusions.[11]
  • Do not assume a retailer with a .ca address has goods in Canada; items shipped from abroad may owe duties, taxes and fees.[12]
  • Courier and customs broker fees are separate from duties and taxes, and you are not required to use a broker.[12]

8. Our disclosure

The FTC says websites that earn through affiliate links should disclose that clearly and conspicuously, and the closer the disclosure is to the recommendation, the better.[13] Amazon requires its Associates to display the statement "As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases".[14] We may earn a commission when you buy through links on this site, and the disclosure sits beside our recommendations.

An example of a brand-named platform

MIKOLO names Amazon among its authorized platforms,[1] so its G3 tower is one product where the marketplace route is the maker's own statement.

Picks that fit1 product

Choose the G3 Cable Machine variant for the tower alone, G3 Ultra for aluminum pulleys, or the G3 Package if you also want MIKOLO's plates.

More on choosing

MIKOLO says to mount it into wood studs or concrete, not drywall alone. On Amazon, check that 'Ships from / Sold by' shows Amazon.com or MIKOLO.

Questions

Are cable attachments on AliExpress genuine?

Some are not, and few brands say. MIKOLO denies other resellers and flags an AliExpress listing as fake, so we treat MIKOLO offers there as unauthorized. For other brands, compare the listing with the brand's own site.[1]

How do I know the seller is the brand?

Check "Ships from / Sold by" on Amazon, and look for the brand's own statement of authorized platforms, as MIKOLO publishes. A store name or a listing alone does not prove authorization.[1][4]

Will I pay duty on a cable attachment?

Possibly. The US suspended duty-free de minimis entry from all countries as of August 29, 2025, and in Canada mailed goods over CAN$20 can owe duty plus GST, PST or HST. Recheck before ordering; these rules change.[8][11]

Are AliExpress returns free?

Only for items marked with a Free Returns icon, and the benefit can be used once per order. The return window depends on where the seller is.[7]
