Short answer
All four gates have 4 in ends sized to go inside 4 in ID hose under a clamp. Choose POWERTEC's 70135 for a cast aluminum body with dimensioned ends,[1] POWERTEC's 70108 for a plain ABS gate, Rockler's Ready-Mount for a built-in wall bracket, or Rockler's tool gate where the machine has a 2-1/2 in OD port.
How we chose
A gate is on this list only if:
- Its maker states what each end fits. POWERTEC lists the 70135 outlet as nominal 4-inch OD with an actual size tapering from 3-29/32 to 3-31/32 inches.[1] The same maker page also has a broad "fits" line that conflicts with that single size; we go by the dimensions.
- Clamps are part of the plan. Infinity Tools says its 4-inch gate has tapered fittings on both sides to accept 4-inch hose and that hose clamps are required.[2]
- Body and slide are maker descriptions. POWERTEC describes the 70135 as cast aluminum with a steel sliding gate, an open slot in the back for self-cleaning and a locking stop.[1] "Never clog" is marketing and we leave it out.
- The product is an exact brand and model in our catalog, and its store listing shows a button only after a US "Ships from / Sold by" check.

Aluminum gate with dimensioned 4 in ends
POWERTEC 70135 4 in aluminum blast gate
Pick it if: Branches and drops in 4 in hose where you want a metal body
- Why it's here
- POWERTEC lists the 70135 outlet as nominal 4-inch OD with an actual size tapering from 3-29/32 to 3-31/32 inches, and describes a cast aluminum body with a steel sliding gate, an open slot in the back for self-cleaning and a locking stop for gate alignment.
- Watch out
- The ends are male and go inside 4 in hose under a clamp; they are not sockets for a 4 in OD machine port. POWERTEC's 'never clog' wording is marketing we do not repeat. This listing is the 2-pack (70135-P2). On Amazon, check that 'Ships from / Sold by' shows Amazon.com or POWERTEC.
- Nominal size family
- 4 in
- Inside and outside diameter of each end
- Outlet nominal 4 in OD, actual taper 3-29/32 to 3-31/32 in; inlet size not stated
- End type (male or female)
- Male (outside-diameter ends fit into 4 in ID hose)
- Fitting standard (hose fitting, S&D PVC, Schedule 40, metal pipe)
- Hose fitting (4 in ID hose)
Values are the manufacturer's specs unless marked.
Plastic gate for 4 in ID hose
POWERTEC 70108 4 in plastic blast gate
Pick it if: Simple 4 in hose runs where several gates are needed
- Why it's here
- POWERTEC lists the 70108 as a black ABS 4 in gate with 3-61/64 in OD and 3-3/4 in ID ends that accept 4 in ID hose.
- Watch out
- POWERTEC says it needs a flex cuff to meet a 4 in OD port. Clamps are not included. On Amazon, check that 'Ships from / Sold by' shows Amazon.com or POWERTEC.
- Nominal size family
- 4 in
- Inside and outside diameter of each end
- 3-61/64 in OD and 3-3/4 in ID at the ends
- End type (male or female)
- Male: accepts 4 in ID hose, ports or fittings; does not join 4 in OD ports without a flex cuff
- Fitting standard (hose fitting, S&D PVC, Schedule 40, metal pipe)
- Hose fitting (4 in ID)
Values are the manufacturer's specs unless marked.
Wall-mounted 4 in gate
Rockler Dust Right 4 in to 4 in Ready-Mount self-cleaning blast gate
Pick it if: A gate fixed to a wall on a 4 in hose drop
- Why it's here
- Rockler lists the Dust Right 4 in to 4 in Ready-Mount gate with nominal 4 in OD ends that take 4 in ID hose, 2 in tall fittings and an integral wall bracket, in high-impact plastic.
- Watch out
- Like the others it has male ends, so it needs clamps and a cuff to meet a machine port. On Amazon, check that 'Ships from / Sold by' shows Amazon.com or Rockler.
- Nominal size family
- 4 in
- Inside and outside diameter of each end
- 4 in OD (nominal) on both ends; accepts 4 in ID hose on both ends; hose fittings 2 in tall
- End type (male or female)
- Male on both ends
- Fitting standard (hose fitting, S&D PVC, Schedule 40, metal pipe)
- Hose fitting
Values are the manufacturer's specs unless marked.
4 in hose to a 2-1/2 in OD tool port
Rockler Dust Right 4 in to 2‑1/2 in tool blast gate
Pick it if: A machine with a 2-1/2 in OD port on a 4 in collector hose
- Why it's here
- Rockler lists the Dust Right tool blast gate with a flexible end for 2-1/2 in OD tool ports and a rigid end that takes standard 4 in ID hose, with a hose clamp included.
- Watch out
- The flexible end is for a 2-1/2 in OD port; measure your port's outside diameter first. On Amazon, check that 'Ships from / Sold by' shows Amazon.com or Rockler.
- Nominal size family
- 4 in to 2-1/2 in
- Inside and outside diameter of each end
- Flexible end fits 2-1/2 in OD tool ports; rigid end accepts standard 4 in ID hose
- End type (male or female)
- Female rubber end over the 2-1/2 in OD tool port; male rigid end into 4 in ID hose
- Fitting standard (hose fitting, S&D PVC, Schedule 40, metal pipe)
- Hose fitting
Values are the manufacturer's specs unless marked.

| Pick | Hose side | Other side | Clamp included |
|---|---|---|---|
| POWERTEC 70135 (2-pack) | 4 in ID hose | 4 in ID hose | No |
| POWERTEC 70108 | 4 in ID hose | 4 in ID hose; flex cuff for a 4 in OD port | No |
| Rockler Ready-Mount | 4 in ID hose | 4 in ID hose | No |
| Rockler tool gate | 4 in ID hose | 2-1/2 in OD tool port | Yes, one |
Before you order
- Measure the machine port. Rockler advises measuring both the inside and outside diameter of each port and hose connector.[3]
- Unused collector inlets get capped, not gated: Harbor Freight's 59726 manual says to cap the unused inlet with the supplied cap when only one inlet is in use.[4]

Questions
Do these gates fit straight onto a 4 in machine port?
No. Their 4 in ends are male and sized to go inside 4 in ID hose. POWERTEC lists the 70135's end as tapering from 3-29/32 to 3-31/32 inches, so a 4 in OD port needs a cuff or a short hose between them.[1]
How many clamps do I need?
One per hose end. Infinity Tools says hose clamps are required on its 4-inch gate, and the same applies to any gate with tapered hose ends.[2]
Are there automatic gates here?
No. We cover manual gates only, with no switches, remotes or wiring.
