Short answer
Some TPU tubes have plastic (resin) valves. Topeak tells E-BOOSTER DIGITAL users to fit its extender hose on these valves so they do not overheat and melt, and a road.cc reviewer flagged heat risk for TPU tubes with the CYCPLUS AS2 Pro. Tubolito says CO2 escapes its tubes faster than air and that butyl patch kits do not suit them. Check the valve style with the valve finder.
Key facts
- How to recognize it
- Tubolito offers its TPU tubes with Presta (SV) or Schrader (AV) valves, so check which style yours is before choosing a pump head.[1]Tubolito-specific; other TPU tube makers were not read.
- Stem diameter
- Not confirmed
- Valve core
- Tubolito says its Presta (SV) valve cores are glued in; only its Schrader (AV) valves have removable cores.[1]Applies to Tubolito tubes only.
- Pump heads makers list
- CYCPLUS says the AS2 Pro switches between Presta and Schrader without extra parts, and describes its silicone case as providing overheat protection.[2]Maker wording. CYCPLUS's page states no duty cycle and no resin-valve warning.
- Adapters and extenders
- Topeak instructs E-BOOSTER DIGITAL users to use the extender hose with TPU inner tubes that have resin valves, to prevent the valve from overheating and melting.[3]Instruction for that Topeak pump.
- Schwalbe code
- Not confirmed
- Adding sealant
- Tubolito says only its Schrader (AV) valves have removable cores that accept sealant; its Presta cores are glued in.[1]
- Heat caution
- Topeak's extender-hose instruction covers its E-BOOSTER DIGITAL. A road.cc reviewer found the CYCPLUS AS2 Pro gets very hot at high pressures and flagged the risk for TPU tubes, and TOUR measured the AS2 Pro's housing at 62 °C at 7 bar.[3][4][5]TOUR's figure is one sample and the housing only, not the valve.
Watch out for
- Topeak says to use the extender hose on resin valves with its E-BOOSTER DIGITAL so the valve does not overheat and melt.
- Tubolito says CO2 escapes its tubes faster than air, so they need reinflating sooner.
- Tubolito rejects butyl-tube patch kits for its tubes, while Park Tool says GP-2 glueless patches work on TPU.
- Tubolito's Presta cores are glued in, so sealant needs its Schrader version.
What fits
Product details below are the seller's own description unless a source is shown. Pick the variant named for each item.
Floor pump
Park Tool PFP‑10 Home Mechanic floor pump (160 psi)Choose the PFP-10; it is the only version listed.
Park Tool lists a head for Presta and Schrader valves. Check which valve style your TPU tube has.
Next: electric pump heat and TPU tube valves, tube patch or tubeless plug and CO2 inflators, cartridges and cold.
Questions
Can I use an electric pump on a TPU tube?
Follow your pump maker. Topeak says to use its extender hose with resin-valve TPU tubes on the E-BOOSTER DIGITAL to keep the valve from overheating and melting; CYCPLUS's AS2 Pro page states no such warning. See electric pump heat and TPU tubes.[3][2]
Can I use CO2 with a TPU tube?
Tubolito says its tubes can be inflated with CO2, but CO2 escapes faster than air, so they need reinflating sooner.[1]
