Insert ring systems: Twist Lock, Tab-Lock, Level-Loc and MagnaLOCK
Insert rings belong to the plate or lift system they were made for. How to tell which system your plate uses, and what each maker says its rings fit.

Short answer
An insert ring belongs to the plate or lift system it was made for. Identify your plate's system first, then buy rings its maker lists for that plate. No maker in our sources says rings swap between Twist Lock, Tab-Lock, Level-Loc, MagnaLOCK and Snap-Lock plates.
Why the system matters more than the size
An insert ring sits in the round hole of an insert plate or lift plate and narrows the opening around the bit. How it locks into the plate differs by maker: a twist, a quarter-turn, or magnets. The locking method, the ring's outside diameter and the recess it sits in are made to match one maker's plate.
So the first question is never "what size ring?" It is "whose system is my plate?" The opening comes second; see which ring opening to choose for a bit diameter.
The systems, maker by maker
| System | Maker | How the maker says it holds | What the maker says it fits |
|---|---|---|---|
| Tab-Lock | JessEm | Quarter turn | JessEm plates and lifts with the Tab-Lock system |
| Level-Loc | Kreg | Not stated in our sources | The Kreg insert plate and the Kreg lift |
| Twist Lock | Woodpeckers | Twist | Woodpeckers plates and lifts |
| MagnaLOCK | INCRA | Four rare-earth magnets | INCRA aluminum plates and the INCRA Mast-R-Lift II |
JessEm Tab-Lock
JessEm's 8-piece Tab-Lock set installs and removes with a quarter turn and fits JessEm router plates and lifts with the Tab-Lock system.[1] JessEm's Rout-R-Lift II manual spells the name "Tab-Loc" and describes phenolic insert rings for models 02310 to 02314.[2] Same family, two spellings.
Kreg Level-Loc
Kreg lists its PRS3050 Level-Loc rings as fitting the Kreg Precision Router Table Insert Plate and the Kreg Precision Router Lift.[3] That is the whole list. We found no Kreg statement that they fit another brand's plate.
Woodpeckers Twist Lock
Woodpeckers says its 8-piece Twist Lock set adds to the three rings supplied with each Woodpeckers mounting plate and lift.[4] Its cast aluminum plate comes with three Twist Lock rings with 1, 1-3/16 and 2-5/8 in openings.[5]
INCRA MagnaLOCK
INCRA's MLRINGSET-3.5 rings are held in the plate by four rare-earth magnets.[6] INCRA says its aluminum mounting plates and the INCRA Mast-R-Lift II use the MagnaLOCK system.[6]
Rockler Snap-Lock
Rockler sells a Snap-Lock ring system for its own plates. We could not read Rockler's own pages, so we do not publish Snap-Lock openings or fit. Check Rockler's listing for your exact plate.
Generations inside one system
One maker's system can change over time. INCRA says its CleanSweep rings fit only 2006-or-newer INCRA plates and lifts with a 3-5/8 in opening through the bottom of the plate. They do not fit gray phenolic MagnaLOCK plates or first-generation gold Mast-R-Lifts with a 3-1/2 in opening.[7] INCRA applies the same exclusion to its CleanSweep guide-bushing ring and solid insert.[7]
If your INCRA plate is older, check that bottom opening before ordering CleanSweep rings.
Ring outside diameter: unresolved for Kreg
Kreg's PRS3050 page gives two outside-diameter figures for Level-Loc rings: 3.85 in and 3-13/16 in.[3] One Kreg Q&A answer also gives the rings as 0.250 in thick.[3] Because Kreg's own answers differ, treat the outside diameter as unknown. Do not use either number to cut a recess or judge whether another brand's ring would fit.
What comes with a lift or plate
- JessEm Mast-R-Lift II: JessEm's current product page lists three rings, 1-3/8, 2 and 2-1/2 in, and a ring wrench (page read 2026-10-13).[8]
- Kreg PRS4034, PRS4036 and PRS4038 plates: three Level-Loc rings, 1 in, 1-3/16 in (the guide-bushing ring) and 2-5/8 in.[9]
- Woodpeckers cast aluminum plate: three Twist Lock rings, 1, 1-3/16 and 2-5/8 in.[5]

How to identify yours
- Find the maker's name and model on the plate or lift, or in your order history.
- Look at how the ring comes out: a twist, a quarter-turn with tabs, or a pull against magnets.
- Read the manual's parts list for the ring name (Level-Loc, Tab-Lock, Twist Lock, MagnaLOCK).
- For INCRA, note the plate's color and the bottom opening.
If you cannot tell, contact the plate maker with your model number before buying rings.

Questions
Are router table insert rings interchangeable between brands?
Not on any maker's word we found. Each maker lists its rings for its own plates and lifts, and no maker in our sources says Twist Lock, Tab-Lock, Level-Loc, MagnaLOCK or Snap-Lock rings swap between systems.[3][1]
How do I tell which ring system my plate uses?
Find the plate or lift maker's name and model, look at how the ring locks (twist, quarter-turn or magnets), and check the manual's parts list. Then buy rings the same maker lists for that plate.
Will new INCRA CleanSweep rings fit my old INCRA plate?
Only if it is a 2006-or-newer INCRA plate or lift with a 3-5/8 in opening through the bottom. INCRA says they do not fit gray phenolic MagnaLOCK plates or first-generation gold Mast-R-Lifts with a 3-1/2 in opening.[7]
What is the outside diameter of a Kreg Level-Loc ring?
Kreg's own answers differ: its PRS3050 page gives 3.85 in in one place and 3-13/16 in in another. Treat it as unresolved, and never use either figure as a machining dimension.[3]
Do Rockler Snap-Lock rings fit other plates?
We could not confirm Snap-Lock ring openings or fit from Rockler's own pages, so we make no claim about them. Check Rockler's listing for your plate.
