Short answer
Buy nozzles by orifice size, not color. DEWALT's DXPA45ST is a five-tip size 4.0 set rated to 4,500 PSI.[1] SIMPSON sells its five-tip set and its turbo nozzle each in two part numbers that differ by size. Work out your size from your machine's rated output first, then pick the part that states it.
How we chose
A nozzle product is on this list only if:
- Its maker states the orifice size. The size sets the flow: Cat Pumps and General Pump both publish nozzle number = GPM x the square root of (4,000 / PSI).[2][3] A set sold only by color or angle does not tell you that.
- Sizes are separate part numbers. DEWALT sells five-tip 1/4 in quick-connect sets as the DXPA34ST, size 3.0 rated to 3,400 PSI, and the DXPA45ST, size 4.0 rated to 4,500 PSI.[1][4]
- Turbo nozzles state a size and rating too. DEWALT lists its DXPA45TN turbo nozzle as orifice size 4.0, rated up to 4,500 PSI, with a 1/4 in quick-connect.[5] Its DXPA34TN is size 3.0, rated up to 3,400 PSI.[6]
- It is an exact brand and model in our catalog, and its store button shows only after a US "Ships from / Sold by" check.

- Calculate your size from your machine's rated PSI and GPM in the nozzle size finder.
- Check the set's rating covers your machine's maximum pressure.
- Replace worn tips with the same size: Cat Pumps says worn nozzles are the most frequent cause of low pressure, and never to adjust the pressure regulating valve to compensate.[7]

Which size set do I need?
The size your machine's rated PSI and GPM give in the formula nozzle number = GPM x the square root of (4,000 / PSI), which Cat Pumps and General Pump publish. The nozzle size finder works an example.[2][3]
Why buy a set in one size?
Because every tip in a set shares the size, and the angle does not change the flow. Cat Pumps states that spray angle does not affect nozzle flow.[2]
Should I replace all my tips at once?
Replace worn tips with the same size. Cat Pumps says worn nozzles are the most frequent cause of low pressure and the fix is to replace them with the proper size.[7]
