Buying pressure washer parts in Canada
Pressure washer parts in Canada: duties, taxes and brokerage fees on parts shipped from abroad, what a return refunds, AliExpress returns, recalls and safety marks.
Short answer
A pressure washer part shipped to Canada from abroad may owe duties, taxes and fees. The courier's or broker's clearance fee is a private charge, separate from duty and tax. If you send the part back, the duty and tax may be refundable under conditions, but the brokerage fee never is.

Duties, taxes and fees
The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) says online purchases may ship from another country and may be subject to duties, taxes and administrative fees.[1] The same page describes exemptions for certain courier goods at low values for duty, each with its own conditions, so we do not quote a single threshold.
Brokerage is a private charge
CBSA says courier and customs-broker clearance fees are a private business-to-consumer charge outside its control and separate from duties and taxes.[1] The courier sets the brokerage fee, not the government. Read the courier's terms on the order before you pay.
What a return gets back
CBSA lists goods returned to a seller outside Canada as a possible reason for a duty and tax refund, but says it cannot refund brokerage or courier fees.[2] Eligibility requires personal use, duties and taxes actually paid, supporting documents and meeting the program's requirements. Do not count on getting every landed cost back.
| Cost | Who charges it | Refundable on return? |
|---|---|---|
| Duty and tax | CBSA | Possibly, with conditions |
| Brokerage or courier clearance fee | The courier or broker | No, per CBSA |
AliExpress returns
AliExpress's Free Returns terms apply only to items showing a Free Returns icon and to registered buyers who meet its requirements, and the terms say they do not apply in all countries.[3] The window depends on the seller's location: 90 calendar days from payment for mainland China sellers, 15 days from receipt confirmation for EU sellers and 7 days for Brazil sellers.[3] The terms shown at checkout for Canada decide.
A maker's own store may not ship to Canada
Check the maker's shipping list. MJJC's FAQ says its own store ships to the United States, the UK, the European Union and Turkey,[4] and Canada is not in that list. A marketplace seller's terms are separate.
Plug-in machines: marks and recalls
This site covers accessories, but a plug-in pressure washer is an electrical product. Health Canada advises consumers not to buy plug-in electrical products online without a Canadian electrical certification mark such as CSA, cUL or cETL, and warns that counterfeit electrical products do not meet Canadian safety standards.[5] That advice applies to powered products, not to passive hoses or fittings.
Recalls reach Canada too:
- RYOBI. CPSC's RYOBI recall 25-452 covers about 764,000 units in the US and about 16,000 in Canada.[6]
- Workbless. On August 20, 2026, Health Canada announced a recall of 657 Workbless WB0301 and WB0302 electric pressure washers in Canada because they lack a GFCI and have a short power cord, creating an electric shock hazard.[7] The notice says recalled products may not be redistributed, sold or even given away in Canada.
The recalls and safety standards guide explains how to check your own model.
Disclosure in Canada
Canada's Competition Bureau says material-connection disclosures should be prominent and in plain language, and that linking to an affiliate webpage alone is unlikely to be enough.[8] Our store links carry their disclosure beside them.

Questions
Do I pay duty on pressure washer parts from the US or China?
You may. The Canada Border Services Agency says online purchases may ship from another country and may be subject to duties, taxes and administrative fees. Some courier goods are exempt at low values, with conditions.[1]
Who charges the brokerage fee?
The courier or customs broker, not the government. CBSA says courier and broker clearance fees are a private business-to-consumer charge outside its control and separate from duties and taxes.[1]
What certification mark should a pressure washer have in Canada?
For a plug-in machine, Health Canada advises not buying plug-in electrical products online without a Canadian electrical certification mark such as CSA, cUL or cETL. That advice is about powered products, not hoses or fittings.[5]
If I return a part to a US seller, do I get the duty back?
Possibly the duty and tax, never the brokerage. CBSA lists goods returned to a seller outside Canada as a possible reason for a duty and tax refund, with conditions, but says it cannot refund brokerage or courier fees.[2]
