About

Field guides for people who want the part that fits.

Watchmarks publishes independent, English-language guides to gear, each focused on one hobby or job, for readers in the United States and Canada.

Who we are

Watchmarks is a trading name of WATCHMARKS LTD. Our guides are written by Watchmarks Editorial, the editorial byline of Watchmarks. Each guide starts from the question a reader actually has: will this fit what I own, and what should I check before I buy?

How we research

Every guide is built the same way. Across our guides today that is 591 cited sources and 679 checked facts.

  1. Sources first. We gather the maker’s own product pages, manuals and spec sheets, standards bodies and named independent sources.
  2. Fact by fact. Each claim is checked against its source before anything is written. Claims that can’t be confirmed are left out or clearly marked.
  3. Written from the checked facts only. Pages cite their sources inline, and each spec carries a label saying where it comes from.
  4. Reviewed on a schedule. Pages carry the date they were last checked, and store links are re-checked regularly, including who actually sells the product.

What the labels mean

Manufacturer
Stated by the maker, on its own site, manual or packaging.
Seller listing
Stated only by a store listing. Treat it with care; we say so on the page.
Independent
From a standards body, a named lab or another independent source.
Our testing
Measured by us. We only say “tested” when we tested it.

How we make money

Some links in our guides go to stores such as Amazon and AliExpress. If you buy through them we may earn a commission, at no extra cost to you. Commissions never decide what we recommend, and there are no paid placements. Purchases, delivery and returns are handled by the store and seller, not by us. Each guide’s disclosure page explains the details for that guide.

Contact and corrections

Email hello@watchmarks.com. If something in a guide is wrong, tell us which page and what is wrong. We check it against the source, fix it, and note material corrections on the page.
